A little regression on my part but now really keen to spec this puppy up... im looking at all the electrics first

back in the day i remember acoms and futaba being the daddies in the radio world... any thoughts for a conventional 2 stick model

what about servos and batteries?

i read a lot about lipos and think ill venture that route but not sure about servos... i think something with metal rather than plastic?

No limit to what you can do with that! Still competitive too.
Parts are still readily available and the odd Associated part that has been discontinued lives on in the Thunder Tiger Phoenix BX.

With radio gear, it depends on your budget! Core RC and Etronix do budget 2.4g stick sets, whereas Futaba and KO are at the top end of the scale.

Definitely go for lipos, they can be charged over and over and don't need to be charged just before use either like nicd/nimhs. You just need a charger that can balance charge them.
Also your speedo needs to have a cutoff to stop them being discharged too low as this can damage the cells.
Can't help much with the servos sorry, but agree that metal geared are the best. Futaba and Savox do very good ones, but again depends on your budget!
Have fun

B3... vintage?! I still have a B2 which I lent to a friend who is a Hot Bodies team driver to race here last week, for a dabble in off road racing!

As above, LiPo is fantastic, forget NiMHs now. Also as you're buying new stuff you may aswell go brushless smile

I was looking through some stuff in the garage earlier - I found my RC10T - the first one, might have to spend some money.

i may have some original tyres for this, i'll have a look around.

Assume yours is the gold chassis on with white plastics. quite collectable if original.

it is - or should I say it was, I bought it used - and the gold chassis was really worn, so I painted it, no idea what I painted it with - tar it looks like!!! - might have a go with the paint stripper. Plastics and dampers and stuff are all still genuine though I think.

What's your budget? It's worth checking out the sales section on websites like www.oople.com You should be able to pick that stuff up without breaking the bank.

I would echo the comments about going straight for brushless especially if you have to buy a speedo anyway. You can get a 10.5 which is roughly equivalent to a 19turn brushed motor. But the lack of maintenance required is such a bonus! (If you get back into racing then a 7.5 should be all you need).

See - until yesterday I just had an old motorbike to restore, now I have an old RC car to make shiny too - will post some pictures of its current state when I get a second.

When I was up at my parents the other weekend they made me take away a box of my RC stuff... so I have one of these now to play with

Plus another one in better condition, but not all together, 2 x Schumacher Cougars and a Schumacher Topcat. Also in the box, several motors, 4 x Futaba controllers and lots of batteries, tyres, gears and spares.

I suppose I should really get rid of some of it...
