My 5 month old daughter is now settled in her own room. But it's the smallest in the house on the outside wall with a small radiator.

We've tried an oil filled radiator as a top up but it's hard to regulate the temperature but without it it's very cold now in the middle of the night and she wakes up with cold hands.

Can I fit a bigger radiator easily ? The pipes are 10mm and come out of the wall close to the radiator valves. Any other suggestions ?

You could easily fit a bigger rad, but the pipework may not be as neat.

Not a relatively new house by any chance is it?

1998 - don't mind the pipes running back on themselves

The rad is on the outside wall - is a heat reflector beneficial ?

Is the radiator running at 80 degrees, roughly?

One of our customers has just had a small radiator replaced with large one but on its end going up the wall, if that makes sense. Not sure if its a standard on it end or a 'special' one. Saved moving the pipework but got them a bigger rad.

I would also consider insulation - in the loft and perhaps on the walls too (1"thick + batten out to plasterboard). Maybe a heavy blind for the window too.

It sounds to me like a heat-loss issue rather than a heating one..
