Oldest pets?

Our two cats are 21 and 19. I believe this is pretty good going for cats. However some other pets (tortoises and parrots are two I can think of offhand) live for much longer.

What's the oldest pet you have had and what was it?

Had a rescue put to sleep a few weeks ago, he was about 20 (not 100% sure of course) but that was also with Feline AIDS. He was absolutely fine for 4 years, then went downhill in about a week. I know we gave him a great last few years, he was such a happy camper. But it makes me sad thinking aout losing him nonetheless, I miss my evening cuddle and his rubbing off my chin.

Oldest dog I ever knew was 24 when he finally passed with kidney failure I'll always remember because he was the same age as me at the time. Owner of dog had taken him on when he was 18 after his Aunt passed, she wanted her dogs ashes to buried with her so he was to arrange this, which meant keeping his Aunts ashes until the day arrived, he had no idea he'd have to wait another 6 years!! He loved the dog though, he also had a yorkie which lived til it was 19.

The oldest cat I've met was also 24 when he passed (though in truth he probably should have been helped along a year earlier )

I've met a 40yr old parrot African grey, a 13yr old bunny, a 15yr old chinchilla, an 80yr old tortoise and a 9yr old guniea pig.

Though in my job I have an advantage over most in meeting older pets!

I had a chicken that fell off it's perch at 12.
My first sheep was 15. I had to do the deed myself.
Never again, but it was better than her ending up in a kebab shop, which most of them do. I would doubt if a "lamb" kebab exists.

my two terriers are about 14/15, the older one deefur has only really started showing his age in the last 6 months or so ie slowing down, sleeping more, sight and hearing dropping off a bit, though pick up the lead and he bounces and pulls like a pup! and if he meets a female he likes he turns into a lovesick pup still.As he gets older though his tolerance of younger/bouncy dogs has worsened the grumpy git! Molly on the other hand is the perfect lapdog, would much prefer a cushion to lay on than a walk, and if its raining she will stop at the door, puddles and streams are a no no, and she will yelp until someone picks her up!
