When did the dual-carriageway on the A944 in Aberdeenshire between Westhill and Skene Rd become 50mph all the way? I knew it was 50 mph part of the way but now it's straight through. I've been 'hammering' up there at 75mph religiously, oblivious to the new limit! It probably should be 50mph all the way as there are some nasty juntions on it but It's news to me as to when it changed. Luckily for me the polis haven't been doing many speed traps there!

It has been like that for a few weeks now, as has the turn off for the Slug road from the North Deeside Road.

The safest option for the A944 would have been to close the gaps, but I guess that would have cost some money.

It was easier than teaching those idiots that the outside lane is for overatking and not sitting there at 40mph from Kingswells to Westhill !!! Also the Wellington Road from Macro Roundabout to the near the start of flyover is now 40mph, not sure too many people realised that either.

Since the middle of October, possibly one road that I actually agree should be a 50 zone due to the number of junctions/ farm entrances and should have been reduced a long time ago imho..............havent you noticed the big signs saying 50 all the way along wink

It was reduced the day after I moved away from Westhill and the few times I have driven it now since then it appears most folk stick to the 50 tbh.

That was reduced from 70mph to 40 on the same day iirc, but not sure I fully understand why it needs to be reduced, even 50mph would have been better but 40mph feels snail pace on such a new wide stretch of road.

There don't appear to be any of the large speed limit signs, just the small ones.

No there arent, but I guess there doesnt need to be, all they did was take away the NSL signs and its just the we ones along the duration. I found out initially by reading it in the paper, would be very easy to be caught out as they have kept it very low key.

Coming from Westhill thought there are large 50 signs as opposed to NSL so clearer coming from that direction.

As posted above - I think it happened in the tattie hols.

When I came back I didn't notice for a couple of days and ploughed on at the "usual" speed. Thankfully no speed cameras or I'd have felt a right plonkergrumpy

I think it took me a couple of days to notice. The signs notifying the change aren't exactly prominent.

Likewise, I was also unaware the Union Street is 20mph until recently - doh!

Why are you doing 75 if it "should" be 50? If you haven't seen the signs, it's not as if you're looking where you're going particularly carefully :-)

(sorry, I'm bored!)

75 is my 70! And I've driven that stretch regularly for the past 15 years - tend to be on autopilot and habits are hard to change.

I did a defensive driving course through work quite a while ago, maybe 2 yrs plus, and I hadnt realised that it changes from a 30 - 20 on Holburn street at the Great Western Road crossroads where Archibalds is until the instructor asked me what the speed limit was and he took great pleasure in pointing out my error.

maybe more to do with the garage and vets having constant turning traffic.. Been a few bad smashes at these, my guess is the garage and/or vet not happy with having the right turn removed. I think it still should be.
Likewise i was passing folk with the quizzicle look.
The no limits signs were removed and not replaced for a wee while with a nice small sign informing its still 50, without actually putting up a 50 sign. or paerhaps another odd plan to force you onto a bus which takes you somewhere you dont work.

But as previously stated, there aren't any big signs, just wee ones.

Not true, the signs are there, just the NSL sign has been removed, so there is no point that it tells you can go at the NSL. So the first 50 sign you see is it for the whole road until you see another sign.

I'm sure there was a sign up a week prior to the change informing people of the change aswell... I hardly use that stretch of road anymore, instead of going blackburn to westhill and then to cults/garthdee, i;ve been usign the kingswells road.

Quick question, NSL or 50MPH for the road which leads you to Cults? Aka when traveling from westhill to kingswells, turning right at the roundabout? I never recall seeing any signage from there, usually go no more than 50MPH. But I always remember that when traveling from Cults back the way, the last signage indicates its NSL!
