I'm thinking it's time to get back into racing with a wheel. I've had them for about 14 years (since the first Craymond Grand Prix game!) but I've not bought one recently.

Need it to play on Xbox, PS3 and preferably PC too for a bit of future proofing. Budget is down to whatever I need to spend to get something decent. Logitech G27 and the Fanatec stuff seem to be the ones, anyone have any views?

The only wheel as far as I know that is PC/PS3/Xbox360 compatible is the Fanatec Turbo S.

The new Fanatec GT3RS and G27 are only PC/PS3.

Only wheel that will work on all three systems is the Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel. Which you can no longer buy new in Europe, so your only option is to pay extortionate second hand prices for it, or get one from America.

XBox the best wheel is the official MS one, which they don't seem to make anymore, expect to pay around £80 for it.

Logitech do a few different wheels, Driving Force GT is the one they made for GT5, £80 again, sequential gearshift and no clutch. G25 is no longer in production, but you might be able to pick one up secondhand, expect to pay at least £150 for one, clutch, separate gear shifter column. Then there is the G27 which will set you back around £250 and is basically an uprated G25.

Fanatec do a range of newer wheels that will work on both the PS3 and PC (the Logitech ones work on the PS3 and PC too) are generally a bit more expensive than the Logitech wheels, but are usually better made.

Ah superb. Thanks for all this.

It looks like I'm best keeping my xbox wheel and firing on with a new G27 or similar.

I don't really get why the Fana ones are out of production. It's just before Christmas and the biggest racing game ever has just been launched
