Most of the military are well fed (in comparison to the general population anyway, though even fighter pilots only get about 1500 calories a day, so that puts things in perspective).

IIRC in the years since the separation of Korea, the average North Korean is about 3 inches shorter than the average South Korean, and lighter too. The clothes are hanging off some due to poor tailoring, and because the body doesn't fit anymore on others.
