Hopefully by the end of the weekend, a breeder I visited recently will have a new litter of pups and i'll be choosing one of them smile

I'm not sure whether i'm going to go for a dog or bh, and then obviously what comes with that is a name!

I've always thought simple single or double syllable names suit the breed, like Jess, Jet, Fly etc.

I just wondered what sort of names you have for your Border Collies to give me an idea when the time comes?

We had a Welsh Border Collie, so called her Meg (rather than Megan). Not got a name for a male though.

Thanks for that smile

I've already had one called Gyp/Jip (we always argue over the correct spelling)

Would I be insane to let the petrol head in me take over and call a boy Enzo, or a girl Zonda?!

Ours was Rex, not original, but the great thing about BCs is they don't mind what you call them, they answer to anything. Brilliant dogs.

That's really spooky, the only name I could think of for a Male was Gyp/ Jip (again couldn't decide on spelling) but decided against posting it and I don't really know why!!

That is definitely spooky Bex! The only other male name I can think of is Moss, and thats only because one of my colleague's dogs is called that.

Males, Sweep, Mick, Bob, Rex

Females, Eva, Sky, Jess

Our Eva above is a working dog who goes out to some distance, when shouting on her the "EE" sound is realy easy to shout at a loud high pitch.

I'm sure I previous read that dogs respond to double syllable names better as they can understand them greater?

My previous Welsh Border Collie was Megan, and my parent's Collie is Mollie.

Great dogs, super intelligent, really easy to train, but need lots and lots of brain stimulation and exercise.

Because if you wanted another one you couldn't call it Kate (I spend my life with a pocket full of Bob Martins scented black bags, just in case!)
