Does anyone have a couple of these? This one is off the rear fog light switch on my V8S (same on S4?). The other two switches on mine have a similar part but just have the small hole to hold the fibre optic. As you can see this one also has a larger hole at the opposite end. My thinking is that if I can convert he other two switches to this fitting I may be able to get some bulbs to fit the larger holes and ditch the useless fibre optics.

Hi v8s4me
Just a thought..
My buddy/mechanic replaced all my fibre optics with LEDs. I'm sure that they pushed into the same mount in the plastic switch surround. You can have them whatever colour you like. The dash is fantastic in the dark with the lighting/clocks being so sharp. I'll take a picture when it's dark to show you.

Hi Steve

Just got back from the shops with this little lot. The LED in the holder will fit in the large hole of the switch surround if I ream it out a fraction with a drill bit. As I’ve only got one of the large hole ones though I’ll try wedging the LED’s in the small hole first. Once the insulation is on they should be quite a tight fit. Time to dig out Ohms Law, I knew “O” Level physics would turn in handy one day. I’d be interested to know what LED’s your mate fitted to the heater controls as there’s not much room or plastic to play with and so I was going to stick with the fibre optics for this.

Here are the three fibre optic holders with the LED’s in place and connected up. I’ve wired them into the circuit which powers the light source for the fibre optics and they work fine! Maplin’s do a very small 12v bulb which will push into the fibre optic hole so, you could go down this route if you don’t want to mess about with LED’s.

Not sure what he fitted to the heater lights (he did play around with resistors to match the brightness)

Photo's a bit of a shot in the dark, so to speak!

looks like Rimmer Bros still stock the parts (TR7)

Very pretty! And just the photo I needed to confirm which side blue goes (yes, I know, I should have made a note before dismantling).

Not sure if it’s the same on an S3 but on my V8S you get to the console switches by removing the centre console as much as possible so that you can get your hands behind the switch panel. I removed mine completely but this involved quite a bit modification to the wiring looms. Once you get behind the switch panel, pull the electrical connectors off the back of the switches and slip the nylon lamp/fibre optic holders off the switch body, see photo earlier. On the V8S the heater lights are fibre optics. If you have these but there are no lights then it’s probably due to the bulb in the light source being blown, again see earlier photo. Good luck. Joe
