Sold my car last October to fund getting my eldest through his test and then being able to drive, so we have been sharing a 1.2 clio for over a year. My wonderful wife then surprised me on xmas day with this

so its a 328i se tourer, plenty of miles but full bmw service history, 6 months tax and full mot, serviced, she got it from our mechanic who has looked after all our cars in recent years, got for a very very good price, just have to wait for the insurance company to open so i can sort that bit out.

stuff that needs doing
a good clean
fuse for central locking
few bits of trim missing
radio only picks up classic fm
2 front alloys corroded
need some mats
so nothing serious at all

quick question....having never owned an auto before whats the 2/3/4 'gears' for?? Anything i should keep an eye on?? cheers, all comments welcome

My, you must have been a good boy this year!

Stick it in D and let the auto do its job, or use it like a manual with the 2 3 4 settings

Enjoy

The 2,3,4 only set the maximum gear that the car will stay in, though... When I'm not in tiptronic and using my auto round town I do tend to stick it in 3 though, otherwise it tends to change down to 4th quite quickly and bog down a bit!

Like the smaller E46 M3 wheels on that.

Tasteful.

quick update

finally managed to give it a good clean today, excuse the dodgy wheel trims as these are my winter wheels, selling the 18"'s that were on and looking for some E36 M3 ones instead. Fitted some bits of trim that were missing, fixed the radio and going in soon to sort out the c/locking (bits on order). Quick question, whats the easiest way to remove the glue used for sticking the badges on the boot??

couple of pics, not bad for a 150k 12 year old car....

re: the badge glue, have you tried polishing it off? Failing that maybe heat it up using a hairdryer/heat gun and try and carefully scrape it off?

WD40 will shift the glue. Looks tidy, I've always liked the E36 Touring

I much prefer the Touring version of the 3 series of any version. This one looks to have a big spec too; it would have been an expensive thing new. Very smart!

Best way to remove the sticky stuff is something like meths, lighter fluid, petrol etc. soak a cloth in the stuff and keep rubbing until its all come away.

I used Sticky Stuff Remover and my hairdryer ahem, HEAT GUN, to remove the adhesive from mine.

I've used turtle wax bug and tar remover in the past for doing this

Looks nice, I preffer the E46 wheels, I think they make the car look more modern than it would on the older style M3 wheels.

We de-badge a lot of cars and find that boiling water is the safest way to do it without damaging the paint, then a bit of polish should bring off what's left.
