I just smuggled a Swiss Army Knife on board a plane
Discussion
Arrived back home in London from the Christmas vacation to Antigua and was horrified to find my Swiss Army knife was in my carry-on Targus laptop bag. I'd put the knife in my hold luggage for the outward journey but must have inadvertently dumped it in the laptop bag along with miscellaneous sunglasses, cables etc I'd kept in the hotel bed side drawer.
Bear in mind my laptop bag had been singled out for secondary inspection at the airport by an eagle-eyed security guardian who had spotted the main weapon in the terrorist's arsenal, my lethal MacBook power adaptor.
I count myself lucky I am not languishing in an Antiguan gaol being fed a diet of over-ripe coconuts.

I've taken a multi-tool thingy on board before at Heathrow. It was only found at Cork on my return due to the lethal bottle of water I also had with me.
I had a BCB Mini Survival Work Tool on my person once. The security guy asked, "What is this?" I replied, "A BCB Mini Survival Work Tool!" The security guy thought briefly and handed it back to me noting that a geek is not a typical hijacker. Certainly. Always keen to help out someone who takes the time and trouble to make an interesting and valuable contribution:
1. Oakey Fuel Cell (oakley.com)
2. Serengeti Aviator Drivers - large frame of course (serengetti.com)
3. Oakley Spike Juan Pablo Montoya signature model
The MacBook is a 13" 2.26 GH Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM
I also had several designer brand garments packed in my (Samsonite) hold luggage including a pair of Tods loafers (don't get excited - they were end-of-line from Bicester Village.
Oh yes. We flew Virgin Atlantic. I'll have the seat numbers for you later.
Don't hesitate to ask if you require any further information.

Arrived for a basketball game against a prison team, put stuff through x-ray and got a bking as I'd left a ball-pressure guage (pen like thing with big spike on the end) in the bag and they thought it was a needle. They weren't any more impressed after I showed them and then spent some time explaining the variety of ways the inmates were likely to use it!
Seemed very thorough, though i guess when its _you_ that'll come up against a prisoner with a weapon you take a lot of care...
