Not sure what it would be considered, but it is definitely annoying me. I first noticed that at the beginning of some races when the countdown is activated, I hold the throttle to my desired launch RPM (as I suspect almost everyone does), but when the countdown ends and everyone goes, my car is stationary, no RPMS, no engine noise, nothing. I usually have to release the throttle and press again for the car to respond and go.

That in itself is not really that big an issue as if the start is really messed up I can always scrap the race and start over, but just now while racing, 3 laps into a 5 lap race it starts playing up again. It feels as if the power has been cut and the car starts coasting. It isn't my controller as I can see the rev counter needle responding to frantic stabs at the throttle button, but the engine just will not respond. I only got it going again by flicking the brake button a few times.

For the rest of the race it got increasingly worse to the point where nothing would get the car going and the car coasted to about 5MPH before suddenly waking up and moving again, by which time I had already been overtaken. mad

I did a search for any known issues, but nothing mentioned seems similar to what I experienced. I doubt it is my controller because as mentioned the tacho needle responded to the throttle button in that it would fall when released, but not rise any higher than previous location when button was pressed again. It was also fully charged, and on past occasions when the starting line glitch appeared, it was actually plugged into the console with the USB cable.

Has anyone come across this before?. The car was Mugen Motul Civic Si shopping trolley racer and it was on the Deep Forest Raceway in Pro series 80's Japanese festival.

Not being mechanically minded, but it sounds to me like an electrical issue. Possibly earthing somewhere on the car. It is a few years old so may have a rusty connector somewhere.

Either that or your controller is a bit furbarred.

Fair enough, the car is 23 years old whereas the controller is only 2.

Will try another game and see what happens.

Not heard of it, hence I would put money on the controller.

It might be 23 years old, but it's a Honda not a Ford. biggrin

Sounds like controller to me. Whatever button you're using as throttle is sticking or not registering fully. Have you tested it in other games which use the buttons in an analogue way?

The problem hasn't happened since that one race. I tried a few different races/cars and I also tried Black Ops for a bit, but I don't think R2 is analogue in that game.

If it was the controller it must have fixed itself. smile
