As it says really. We've got an outside tap the other side of the kitchen wall. Standard jobby in brass with a half inch screw spout to take hose attachments.
I've tried a Hoselok metric screw attachment as well as an imperial one, neither will fit. Legged it down to BandQ for a brass fitting and that won't screw on either!
The diameter of the tap end is approx half an inch so I'm thinking they surely don't do a fraction above or below do they?
Any ideas chaps??

^^^^^ If it's not a BSP size then you might struggle to find anything that'll fit.

Why not fit a small length of hosepipe to tap-fitting then, an hozelock fitting that will accept other of their fittings?

Would this do in the meantime ?

They state for indoor use, but that'll be for frost and H&S presumably..................

Or at worst a new tap scratchchin They are about a fiver.

If anybody is going to know, you'd hope Outsidetaps.co.uk would be able to sort you out.

That's a bit odd, as they are all theoretically standardised.

In decent garden centres you may find little packs of thread size-thread size adapters (I've got loads as they come with water timer computers we use at work).

Gardena tend to sell more varieties of tap attachements, if you Google them you may find a local stockist.

Failing that, if the tap is a normal shape then the fixing depicted above will be an adequate bodge with a tight enough jubilee clip.

Hozelock do an adaptor 1/2", 5/8" & 3/4", failing that can't you screw a new brass tap on. which will come complete with hose connector?

Pretty much any HU bibcock you buy now will have a 3/4" BSP thread. HOWEVER... they have previously been made with 1/2" BSP threads or even 5/8" BSP threads.

Had the same problem with our place (built c.1971).

Couldn't find anything that fitted, gave up wasting time looking for different threaded adaptors and just put a new tap on the outlet from the wall; all of about £7 from B&Q on a Sunday morning and took about 5mins to fit.

Needed a hozelock a while ago for a foam gun and the b&q selection of bits was poor, ended up in halfords in the end they had more of a selection and the bit you are after sounds like the bit I got

Thanks chaps, going to change the tap. Guess I'll have to change the triangular bracket behind it as screwing a new one on to that will bring the same problem!

They normally come as an assembly main body/housing which screws to the wall and has the water inlet connection, and the tap assembly that screws into it.

In practice the tap assembly will already be assembled to the body/housing. smile

That's what I expected - however, the new one had the same thread as on the wall attachment. I took it off (the tap that is) and with me to B&Q to check... saves buying the whole kit, think they still sell just the taps.

All bibtap wallplates are 1/2" BSP unless it's a really big tap when it might be 3/4". That's pretty unlikely though!
