A general cock-up! R4's are one of my favourite Renault's, don't know what I was thinking.
1980s era R4s still seem to be pretty common out there, to the point where I stopped photographing them, but older models seem to be scarce.[quote=sim16v]Spotted this in the Scottish Borders, looks like it has been there a while!

Greenlaw isn't it ? did you spot the house just south of Greenlaw with the 50s leyland lorry and the ancient Bristol bus with the showmans living van grafted on the back, really friendly guy if your ever passing that way again, apparently the Bristol is the only one left in existence with that running gear, also a Bedford tk in there with a genuine 7k on the clock, plus a hanging Austin maxi in the undergrowth ! Place is easy to spot as it has the van body off the leyland next to the road

ADN was the British Colony of Aden, which was subsumed into the People's Republic of (Communist) South Yemen in 1963.
That is a 1967 plate, so someone must have just stuck a very old country code sticker on their newer car.
Is that a Volvo 144 pre-facelift?
JFG---F is not a re-registration combination, it was a standard issue, so it is quite possible that the car is older than 1967. Back in the day there was little consistency over re-reg, and some councils just allocated a current issue plate. That "wedding car white" Silver Shadow will just rot to pieces kept out in that garden, unless it is a typical wedding Shadow, and is already rotten under the blowover white. Still, nice to see some enterprise amongst everyday folk - rather that, than rely on benefits.JumboBeef said:
My answer - one, the Silver Shadow. I think that qualifies.neutral 3 said:
Shame, always had a soft spot for these, F plate makes it a fairly late built one, any more photos ?
Sorry, no more pics. I just took this on my phone as I was passing. I was drawn to it as I have a similar age S2, I must say in better condition. I think I will make a mental note of it and may see if it is available as a parts donor should I need it in the future. On the other hand, I am sure it could be saved by someone with a bit of time, space and money.neutral 3 said:
This scarce 24 Valve GSI Carlton needs saving pronto. it's a desirable Manual as well. I had 2 of these a 12 Valve manual and then a 24 Valve auto, great cars.
This one would make a great Lotus Carlton replica.
Personally I'd prefer that to be kept relatively original (saved though, of course) rather than made into something it's not. This one would make a great Lotus Carlton replica.
