Expect unreliable electrics.
I thought that it was lost for ever. However, about three years ago, I was driving into a Sunday Service when I spotted a red Alpine. MY RED ALPINE.
Here it is. Firstly when I owned it and the second photo was taken at the SS over twenty years later.

My brother and I tried to buy a car from a woman with this problem. It was a pre-war Austin that had stood, admittedly under cover, for twenty five years since her father died. I learned about the car through a mutual friend; he knew a lady who had a car to sell as she needed money and knew we were looking for a project. Discussions took place by email and telephone and £2,500 was the "sort of" figure talked about. When we actually went to see the car one Saturday, it had obviously been in good shape when her dad was alive but now needed quite a lot of work. "I've spoken to some friends and they say it's worth £3,000."

The Scirocco had been her mother's until she died and had been mouldering in front of the garage doors where the Austin was hiding ever since. Her neighbours complained about the state of it, but there it stood.
How a machine deteriorating in the way machines do can be a fitting memorial to someone you loved is quite beyond me. This lady had two; one for each parent. She still had both cars the last time I enquired.

Whilst sojourning in Norfolk last week, happened across this mighty bastion of British motoring heritage mooored up near the A47;
Whilst along the lane from our holiday cottage this 240 was just visible through much foliage;
There were many fallen trees and other overgrown bushes, seems no-one had accessed the property for more than a year (possibly just a vacant plot - no house visible).
Even managed a visit to the Medlers yard - not much left but a nice walk on a sunny afternoon.

Well, to me, and in the spirit of the thread and love for cars, it would have been: found unloved, started first time, got it back to my man cave, and here it is in all its glory...Not: found it, convinced the owner to sell, sold on as is. Either for a profit or because it a heap of c**p.
but hey, it maybe just me, I keep on buying cars and not selling any

If i remember correctly both colours on that Vanden Plas were factory colours. Maybe BL's first attempt at an opalescent finsh?? Whilst along the lane from our holiday cottage this 240 was just visible through much foliage;

But I haven't sold it yet, as it's a work in progress.
I've rebuilt the exhaust, overhauled the brakes, and it's now taxed, MOT'd and insured.
Two tyres arrived for it today, so I hope to be using it by the weekend.
The simple fact is I don't have the space, or the funds to keep every car I buy!
I've got a fare old collection of cars, tucked away for a rainy day, and my friends know I'll buy any good/bad/random/rare/sh*te car, as long as it isn't too modern and is a little bit interesting.
Because of that, I get a lot of phone calls/emails/texts saying XYZ has been found, and I can't help myself.
How many cars have you bought this year?
And are you going to keep them all, or maybe move one or two on and try something else?
If I keep this, I'll have a nice, rare Alpine GTA in the collection.
If I sell it, I've got the chance of an E34 M5, Audi UR Quattro, Merc 320CE, all "barn finds".
I used to want to keep everything, but I simply can't.
So now I want to have a massive list of cars that I have owned!
Has this been posted on here before? East London car park, and clearly been sitting there for quite some time (at least 6 months since I first saw it). Also a classic Porsche and an old Merc in the same car park, also seemingly just rotting away.
Don't know much about Esprits, except that I love the look of them, especially the late V8s like this, and particularly in primary colours.
