No just finished with a salesman - no I didnt sign there and then!

However quote seemed good for A rated windows (have 2 local firms coming round tomorrow to give comparison etc), has anyone got any expereince of actually having their products / installation. The product quality looked good and comparable to others seen in local showrooms and if price is good then are there many drawbacks with them? most of the feedback on the web is about the sales process - which we didnt budge and he didnt even bother with the "cancellation - best offer" type comments.

As mentioned got 2 local firms coming round tomorrow but any constructive feedback would be welcome

No experience of that company so I don't know if this applies to them.

Many national window companies don't employ their own fitters, they use contractors. There may be issues with quality control between the ordering and the fitting.

Recently we had this place re-windowed, and we used a local firm who manufacture their own units (like a LOT of companies by buying in section from Bowater Eclipse) and also make their own glass units, and only use their own fully employed fitters.

Competitive on price, and I'm very pleased with the quality and dealings with the company.

Shameless plug from a satisfied customer:

We had a Safestyle rep in first could not seem to understand that we had appointments with other companies for comparison double glazing is a large investment not the sort of thing you sign on the line for strait away. Rep was so desperate for me to sign on the day the price dropped by about £4000 in 5 minutes including ''special deal only today'' ''I'll phone my boss'' ''yeah that's O.K''.Would not take NO for an answer.Shame really I quite liked the product but the rep was an absolute t..t.Went to a local company in the end really good service had many compliments from passers by/neighbours and workmen working on the house about the quality.Since had all the doors replaced by the same company large order(New porch, front door, back door, french doors, garage door, rear garage door.)Safestyle called back about the time we ordered the doors and seemed quite upset not to get that sale either!

with the chains, the quality of the job will depend on the team of self employed fitters they use.

We had a coldseal conservatory built many years ago, and luckily for us both the brickie team and the erection team were spot on. No guarantee that that would have been the case though.

I would approach an actual window fitter and see some of his previous jobs. Then get a price off of him, rather than buying from a firm that just sells the jobs on.

The windows are all much of a muchness IMO.

They don't have a great reputation within the industry. They try to fit as many jobs as they can in just one day , even if that means putting more than 1 team on the job. They ask for balance on completion so you're paying before the sealant has even dried. It's usually the next day when any snagging issues come to light , they've got your money then though so they wont necessarily be in as much of a rush to put things right.

The turn over of fitting staff is high , the good teams soon look elsewhere as even they are not keen on some of the working practices they have in place , not to mention the rates of pay ,the bad ones come and go at an alarming rate.

As mentioned , if you get a good team then you'll be OK , but the odds are not in your favour

On the subject, any idea how much for 2 double glazed windows, its in our spare room and the seal went about 2 years ago, so pretty drafty and also doesn't open properly. The size is around 110cm accross by about 100 up?

Thanks in advance...

With K Glass , £200 - £250 fitted is about the going rate (each) , add about £20 for full 'A' Rated

I didnt buy from them because their salesman called me a "bloody moron" because I wanted a qote from another compnay, I had made it clear that safestyle were the first that I had seen and that I wanted to see 3. The manager on the phone called me a timewaster and hung up (he had been dropping the price to force me to sign)

If that behaviour is any indication of there customer service then to my mind, if you use them you are mad!

I suppose they know if they leave without the order then there's not chance of you calling them back so they've got to do the deal there and then.

We had ours done by what seemed like a good local company who promptly went bust and reopened again with the year after their name. I felt the fitters were good lads and they've been OK mechanically, but seem to get through sealed units more often than other people I've asked.

Had a patio window done by Safestyle - gave the salesman 1 shot, 1 quote, and got a good price. Very good price in fact. Fitters were spot on - perhaps I was lucky, window is fine, but they do keep phoning asking if I want soffits, conservatories, more windows, etc etc with monotonous regularity - every 6 months I reckon, despite having said NO several times previously. Purely on that basis, I probably wouldn't use them again. As above - morons!
