Right just wanted some quick advice, any tips on how you would reject a car?

Basically I was due to collect a car but was told the eml came on, and that unfortunately I would not be able to collect the car until they diagnose and fix the problem, so a day off wasted, and they have been messing me about, they misplaced a key so need to send off for one, but it's ok they tell me as I'll have one key to get me going .

I do not want the car, I have stated this, but they are obviously trying to persuade me asking me what they can do to change my mind.

Now here is the tricky bit, I gave a large deposit and the rest is on finance, an agreement which I have signed, I called the finance company and they have told me I am still in the "Right to withdraw period" but that means paying off the amount borrowed, the only way I can do that is if the dealer returns the money the finance company gave them.

How can I go about this? I called consumer direct who gave me a template letter and said I need to give them 7 days for them to resolve the issue.

The thing is I do not want it resolved by a fix, I do not want the car. And the dealer is trying to make it difficult for me.

They have said that I'd have to pay for the full tank, tax, and now the car has an owner on the v5 etc so that will devalue it, I said I don't care I'll pay for tank etc I just do not want this car.

Any advice please?

Cheers

p.s if it makes any difference it's hp not pcp.

EML light on isnt necessarily the end of the world.Id let them fix it and get them to pay for a new key and you take the car on the understanding that if there are any further problems over the next month or so then they will refund the car and straighten out the finance without argument.Get it in writing.

I'm just concerned that it could potentially be a problematic car.

That and also the fact that they have still not diagnosed and fixed the problem, I have been inconvenienced.

Is it reasonable that I should now have to wait potentially 2 weeks to have the car?

Yes I think it is. It is only two weeks. I am amazed that they have been so honest with you - an awful lot of cars have a final fix at the dealer before being collected so I am surprised that they didn't just tell you that it is delayed at the docks.
