Where's the best place to purchase track day (cars not bikes) clothing?

Your normal clothing retailer.

Ideal trackday where should be a light cotton long sleeve shirt, casual trousers and a good pair of thin soled shoes or trainers.

Anything motoring related kind of marks you out as a bit of a dick

I don't really care what other people think. If there's a chance I could get burnt then i'd rather have some sort of race suit with fire protection.

How often have road cars you've been in caught fire?

Going back to the topic, can anyone suggest a good website to purchase this stuff?

What car will you be driving?

Demon Tweaks.

If you're worried about fire then you will need the following:

An FIA approved cage, bucket seat and harnesses

A proper lid (Arai GPX etc)

As a standard road car will rarely burst into flames without taking a proper wack.

If you want to buy a racesuit I would suggest going somewhere to try a few different ones on, as with most clothes different brands are cut and fit differently.

If you do want to order online, then places like Demontweeks and Merlin Motorsport have a good range.

I got some stuff from ybracing.com which was quite good. Demon Tweeks aren't THAT bad, just a little more expensive.

This thread in the motorsport forum should help a little too;

If you're driving some single seater it's probably a wise idea. If you're driving a car that others use on the daily commute, then you're wasting your money. There was more chance of my drag Skyline catching alight... but I commuted every day to work in it... no chance I was dressing like The Stig every morning, though, if only because people would take the piss at work.

Are you planning on setting fire to your car or driving in such a manner on track that you plan on crashing? Wow. watch out guys I won't be heading to this trackday.

The obvious suspects are demon tweeks or the place at Silverstone (GTR? sorry can't be bothered to google). Take no notice of what others say - presumably they don't believe in seatbelts either as they're not going to crash.
Whatever you feel comfortable in and budget allows for.
