Bloody Hell! That brings back some memories. I can recall science lessons with a TV and Beta Max video recorder on a trolley at the the front of the class room, everyone furtively scribbling in their copy books.

I'd completely forgotten about Intelligent Calcium though. hehe

I might be being a bit simple here, but shouldn't it still be "I've got good news AND bad news"? (Your cat is alive and your cat is dead.) It's not "or", if it were, his thought experiment wouldn't be revolutionary at all. hehe
The joke is that "I've got good news and bad news" is the accepted phrase, as otherwise someone would say "I have some bad news" or "I have some good news!". Shroedinger is saying he has good or bad news depending on how the famous thought experiment resolves itself. Although I understand your point about the fact that, prior to resolution, it is both. smile
So, he has news ?
He's not sure yet.

It's the joke that keeps on giving. Or doesn't. As the case may be. smile

Many, many, many times.

No, wait, none times. Occasionally. Never. Sometimes. Always. Never. Some. etc.

In all fairness, it is one of my fave xkcd panes and I have posted it many times. But I'm not going to diss it being posted again because it's awesome. biggrin
