Well, I just got my renewal quote through from Admiral on my slightly modified MG ZT-T 260 and a Shogun 3.0 V6 LWB.

As usual, I trundled off onto the price comparison websites to see where would be cheaper so that I could either move or get Admiral to revise their quote.

For the third year running, my renewal quote from Admiral is cheaper than anything else I've been quoted!

Aren't these unscrupulous insurers supposed to put your premiums through the roof in your second year onwards in the hope that you'll not notice or be too lazy to change? Every year I look forward to getting a cheaper deal, and every year I fail to do so! irked

For entertainment purposes, I put my details into the people who don't use brokers so that they can spend the money on annoying tts pretending to be the voice of telephones on wheels to advertise them, and they wanted 40% more for the Shogun alone than Admiral wanted for both cars put together!

Yep, be interesting to see if you get a cheaper price doing a quote as a new customer.

Weird isn't it. I always hear that sort of thing, but it never seems to happen to me. It might have something to do with the minor modification on the V8, I suppose. It's on my policy, but I'm not sure they're charging me any extra for it.

2nd year renewal from Direct Line - £2000

New policy with Admiral - £880

I didn't try a new quote with DL though, that could be interesting.

Try Keith Michaels or Aplan, have saved me loads over the last few years.

This is my one massive gripe with Admiral. Every year I get a massive renewal, I research, find admiral to be the cheapest, phone up and renew.

Otherwise they're a decent enough company. Customer service guys are ok, the claims dept are fine, they don't charge you a huge amount for changes, you can get a certificate e-mailed accross, etc, etc, etc.

I already know (roughly) how much my insurance should be, so why try sticking 40% or so on it, hoping I won't notice
