Just a quick question for PH, I have spent over an hour calling half of India trying to get some clarification on my insurance.

I have just received my renewal letter from Aviva, on this it states "3 Years no claim discount".

I passed my test in March 2008 so I was under the impression my entitlement to a NCB 'build up' started from this point, with that in mind, I thought by March 2011 (3 years on) I would have my 3rd year without any claims?

After asking this question on how does this work I made a statement about the fact I had insurance before I passed my test for a number of months as I had a little runaround to learn in. So am I right or wrong in saying my NCD entitlement started from when I had any type of insurance whether fully passed or not?

I basically need someone to sum up how this works pretty please.

If I understand u correctly, the 3 years relates to 3 years of insured fault free driving/ownership of a vehicle.

Not the poiint at which u passed your test.

Therefore, it should include the point at which you were insured.

Thanks for the reply.

The problem with that is, when on the comparison website. If I enter '3 Years NCD' and then 'Been driving for 2 years 10 months'. It just doesn't add up and will not let you continue.

You get a NCB at the end of an annual insurance policy.

31 January 2011 my policy ends.

Which still begs the above question about how long I've been driving though...

This sounds like a standard fail in the online insurance calculator. No idea what to do about it if they can't help on the phone.

Try a different company?

You'll have to ring up mate - I have the same problem because my first year of NCB is from a motorcycle at 16.

How does a calculation like this go wrong though? Each year I have issued a new NCD certificate to each insurer to prove my bonus entitlement.

And somehow somewhere I have fastforwarded my driving expertise 2 months.

Feels like fkin bernards watch.

Arguably you've been driving since you got your provisional licence. It doesn't ask "how long is since you passed your test?" does it?
