I sat down to work this out yesterday to get a round number.

I started work at my current employer in August 2006 buying the bike a couple of weeks before. My cycle to work consists of 2 miles to work and 2 miles home.

Give or take a few days I reckon I've cycled a consist 200 days out of the year, allowing for illness, holidays and adverse weather. 200 days also allows for the odd jaunt to the shops or simply for fun.

200 days per year x 4 miles is 800 miles a year, for 4 full years = 3200 miles. As of next month I will have been cycling regularly for 4 years 6 months so reckon I will hit the 3600 mile mark on my current stead.

How does that compare to the rest of you guys?

Had this road bike since 2004. I did 3,000 miles last year, so it must have done a good 10,000 in it's life. It's feeling a bit tired now, I guess I haven't maintained it as well as I could have. The Groupset, frame and forks are all original though, and the wheels were until about 1,500 miles ago.

I had a new bike computer for Christmas 2009, before I finished for Christmas 2010 I'd nearly hit 1500 miles. That's mainly just from commuting just under 6 miles a day.

I started regular cycling just under 3 years ago. Based on my GPS I'd say I was doing around 2,000km per year but it's all leisure riding and mainly on Sundays.

Did a little over 13000km last year. Frame had to be replaced at just over 10000km when the LHS rear rack eyelet died. Got through 2 sets of brake blocks, 3 rear tyres, 2 front tyres, 3 chains and a cassette.

4004 miles for me in 2010, mainly on my 40 mile daily commute with 2,700' height gain. Other than bad weather and illnesses, not sure I could have done much more really. Not sure I will ever do it again! Want to do a lot more quality mtb'g this year, rather than thrashing out quantity (though as it saves about £7 a day it will be tempting once it warms up a bit)

Some of these mileages are huge! I managed 1645 miles in total last year spread across 3 bikes, around 500 on my road bike, 350 on the mountain bike and the rest on my ancient rigid mtb commuter. Aiming to do about 2,500 this year but have only managed 57 so far this month..

1150 miles on mine at the moment, pretty pleased with that considering I've only had it since September.

Since I put a computer on mine in April last year I have done 1100 miles 50% commuting and 50% weekend rides and a few events, good old Specialized hardtail Hardrock from 2005 so every journey is a workout but it has never let me down. in 5 years of ownership although in March it will take a back seat to whatever road bike I eventually buy.

Thanks to the trip odometers, 4400 miles on the hardtail (GT) since November 2007, 1250 on the full suss (Kona) since last July. I do like those epic days out in the Peaks when the weather allows!
