I don't think we need another petrol price thread.

we all know what it costs, we all know its a rip off, we all know that a small online community can do 2 halves of fk all so surely thats that.....

It's pretty much the same price in France or more expensive if you go on the autoroute. Welcome to the future.

Thanks. You've saved me the effort of posting. biggrin

We should wait until it reaches £1.50/litre and then really show the government we mean business - WE'LL HIT THEM WITH AN E-PETITION!!! And follow up with... A FACEBOOK GROUP!!!

When the British people do 'something about it', that is the day they stop being British.

In the meantime, keep that stiff upper lip and talk about the glory days of the Empire.

NOW.

It cant be that difficult to organise something to display our discontent over getting screwed by owning a car.

I (seriously) propose a mass go slow next month to bring the countries motorway network to a crawl. I`ll organise the M27.

Names on a list for oragnisers for the other motorways.

M25/M1/M5/M6 may need to be divided in to sections due to their size

how on earth do you expect to get to enough people to cause a mass hold up on the M1?

seriously, I only use the M1 to get to work, or to visit my relatives in the north east.

I'm not looking to make either of those journeys alot longer than they need to be.

and as far as I'm concerned, the government are going to laugh at people driving slowly. What do you expect to achieve? i get to work 2 hours late and sue the government and they drop fuel prices?

what happens when an uninsured 'hero' rams one car off the road, rendering the whole thing useless?

just be british and pretend these prices are cheap. in 5 years you'll wish it was only £1.30 a litre

Seems someone got organised - Massive tailbacks on the M25 - Great work...

What do you mean "that was the Government's doing"? frown

It's not apathy, its realism.

I can't do anything to change this. So I don't worry about it.

If I can't afford to drive any more I'll get fitter and cycle further. or I'll consider an LPG conversion (time to recover the cost of conversions must be plumeting) or I'll do something that I can control/have an effect on.

In the mean time, I only fill up at the cheaper petrol station on route to work and I drive as efficiently as I can.

Instead of starting a thread on pistonheads, why don't you lead by example and show me something I can do to cure my apathy?

I for one look forward to the Mad Max society that we will have in a couple of years. I have the handcuffs and a hacksaw all ready for cuffing my elderly neighbour to his heating oil tank while a petrolly rag burns in the vent. Remember, Mr Clifford, it will take 6 minutes to get through carbide steel, but only 3 through your wrist!.

That'll teach the old for leaving his hedge cuttings on my driveway and letting his cat set off my security light.

They're at a crawl every rush-hour already, mate.

I'll come along and join in the protest if you pay for my petrol.

I wonder what the effect would be of having a petition of sorts that promises to never vote for the Conservative party again for the next 20 years if they do nothing about reducing the fuel duty to something that puts the price of petrol down to £1.

To be honest, decent lager in a supermarket is £2 per litre. In a suburban pub £5 per litre. City centre even more. In that London its probably quite expensive I imagine smile

How far can you get on a litre of fuel. £1.30 is still relatively cheap. And its a small proportion of the cost of a high street basket of goods, that even if it doubles its still trivial.

Wait until mortagage rates and general inflation start to kick upwards; then we'll all be a little more militant.

That is true. I only tend to fill up 1 litre at a time, anyway. jester
