Hello all,

I'm looking to finally start getting something done with my project car. It's sat for 6 months under a sheet and I have finally taken the manly route of realising that I will genuinely never get round to doing it myself, so I may as well pay someone to do it for me!

I'm after a nice quality exterior repaint (including door jambs, but not worried about a full bare-metal respray), but also some custom work too; I have some ideas for tweaks to the car's lines I've been mulling over for a year or two, that will involve creating some entirely new components from scratch, probably in fibreglass.

I've only lived here a few years so don't know of anybody by reputation and I am loathe to just pick some names from the phonebook - recommendations are much preferred.

I live in Welwyn Garden City so close by is preferable, but I'm not averse to somewhere a bit of a drive away, ie Letchworth, Hertford, Hemel Hempstead, Luton if necessary... if anybody's had a good experience I'd like to hear it!

I used a fella in Watford several years back for some welding and painting work on a classic Mini. Top notch job and he had offered to make the panels I needed replacing himself if needed, apparently he does a lot of metal work and his main day to day stuff is custom choppers.

Mark at Mini Challenge.

Without doubt speak to Chris @ finishline in Stevenage.

Always has interesting projects on the go, did some amazing work fitting custom bumper to my Gallardo, and finishing in 3 stage pearl, I would not trust anyone else anymore. He is into his cars and will definitely look after you!

Brilliant, thankyou! Stevenage sounds like just the ticket - I'll have a word with them soon.

By the by, you're not a lecturer at the University are you, Matt?
