I'm thinking of making some carbon fibre doors for my car. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with CF doors they have fabricated or bought. My main concern is making them strong enough in case of a side impact.
I think I'll be using a sandwich lay up with kevlar in the middle. This is what I'm thinking is the safest so far. The CF is very strong, but shatters and flies everywhere when it breaks. The kevlar should hold it all together should the worst happen.
That's why I'm out to make my own. It will take some time, but with be a rewarding project. The vast majority of the work is making molds for the first pair.
