Just picked up a 2001 GTV V6. It's the 6 speed lusso model with rear spoiler, teledial alloys and black leather interior. I could not believe how cheap these cars have become.
- £3385
- 12 months MOT
- 68k miles
- Just had new cambelt and service
The bodywork is generally in good condition with just a few scratches here and there to deal with.
The main reason I bought the car was for the Arese/Busso V6. I am sure that many on here have experienced it. It sounds absolutely incredible. The throttle response is razor sharp and the car is so sensitive to tiny adjustments with your right foot (something that many run of the mill modern cars seem to fail on). The interior is just great, in good condition and free from rattles.
I have been averaging about 28mpg combined on my way to and from work, which is mainly A road driving.

That looks great in that colour with those wheels.
I really miss my Alfa V6 - it put a smile on my face every time I turned the key.
Check out www.alfaowner.com if you haven't already for some useful tips.
Not sure if they fit the GTV, but if they do be sure to fit a Q2 diff to your car (about £500). It totally transforms it. And fit a stainless exhaust - I had a Ragazzon - for some enhanced aural pleasure.

My favourite affordable dream car. That's the car I'm going to get when I'm finished with Uni. Except it's going to be red with tan leather, without the aero kit and with a sunroof. Unfortunately they're still quite pricey in Denmark ranging about 150,000 to 200,000 DKK, that's 16,000 to 22,000 GBP!

Is it really hard to import one from here and sell it on? Just thinking that one a month would be a comfortable income. A lex said:

without knowing the ins and outs of the Danish system, I couldn't say. however, being EU, couldn't the car be bought by a Danish person, re-registered for the cost of the registration fee alone as importer's private property, and sold later on?or maybe even immediately?
I don't know exactly what relationship with regards to private import of cars the EU gives us, and I don't know Denmark's laws exactly, but this sounds likely to be possible

I honestly cannot stop laughing! How does anyone actually live there? Are salaries hugely higher than UK?

Here's an example from a danish import firm, importing a 2003 Alfa Romeo 147 GTA from Germany with 59900 km on the clock. http://www.autohenter.dk/%C3%B8konomien-ved-import...
At the time of the import, 2008 I seem to remember, the 147 GTA's were about 350000 DKr, that's just short of 40000 GBP for you, for a 5 year old car.
The cost of the car in Germany was 15300€, that's 116000 Dkr or 13300 GBP. Let's presume the car now is bought and you're going to tax it. According to your link, and as the example car is 5 years old at the time, you have to pay 105% of the first 25900 out of the 116000 DKr the car cost and 180% of the rest (116000 minus 25900), that works out you have to pay 192450 DKr on top of the price of 116000, so you're going to roughly pay 13300 GBP for the car, and 194250 DKr, which is 21891 GBP. All in all 13300+21891 GBP, that's 35 191 GBP for the car imported, of course excluding the trip/research etc.
Hope that makes sense, I'm not going to hijack the thread anymore.
Really enjoying the car so far. It will be more fun when the weather gets better and I can go on some nice drives in the countryside. Looking forward to going to some Alfa meets.
The mpg has now dipped to a more realistic 25. In the next few weeks the following will be sorted out:-
- New thermostat. Currently the car is running between 55-60C and should be running at around 90. Faulty thermostats, according to the knowledgeable folk at ALFAOWNER, are common faults.
- Squeaking rear suspension.
- Rear screen heater not working. Again, a typical GTV fault.
