Hi guys

Basically, Im looking for a new full suspension Mountain Bike, I was recommended Ghost bikes, I haven't heard much about this brand, but they're meant to be as good as specialized, to what extent is this true?

Also, I've been looking at Halfords Carrera Banshee X, I saw this model from 2008. Im attracted to it because it's got a good story and it's a hell of a lot less in terms of price, than other models. Also, from what I've researched, it's good because it's got marzocchi forks, tektra hydraulic brakes and lock on/off knob to stiffen the rear suspension for road riding.
Have a look at it and tell me what you think,

I'm also interested in the likes of Specialized, Kona, Boardman, Iron Horse, Cannondale, Claud Butler etc . . .

My budget stretches to £600 MAX - so I know that im restricted to 2nd hand bikes.

Thanks in advance everyone thumbup

ghost are lovely bikes but you can get some good deals for £600, if you want a new one then you cant go wrong with a specialized hardrock

or a trek

Dare I suggest new from Decathlon? Atleast you will know who the idiot who abuses the bike is. Failing that second hand is a good bet but some bits may be bodged or buggered.

I have the 2008 version of that, but mine is white with an XT groupset. It isn't the lightest FS bike but its very supple and comfortable while flying across bricks, ruts, trees and all kinds of debris. It can also take a fair amount of stick, I've done a couple of thousand miles on mine now and the only thing to regularly go wrong is one of the rear shock bushings, and they're only a tenner to replace (I get through two a year).

Commencal frames appear to crack around the headset and around the shock mounts at the back, but any hint of that is very, very easy to see.

That'll go much higher than £600 I'd have thought!
