Off the ground.
1. My eyesight isn't what it was the last time I built something in 1:72.
2. Enamels don't cover as well or dry as smoothly as they used to.
3. Resin is brittle.
4. PE looks better on the frame than screwed-up into a ball and painted.
5. I can't take very good pictures.

did I just write that?
I'm having so much fun, just like you
paint isn't the same
I'm sure plastic isn't either (tho' mine's about 40 years old )
And the glues dont act, smell or stick like they used to...
But it will all come right as you go on
Looks like a nice model from your and the others' shots so far
keep on keeping on

There's a lesson - changed my name and now can't change it back. Heigh-ho.
I'd put the whole thing away out of sheer frustration: the PE instrument panel looks fabulous, and you can achieve a great sense of depth by painting it black and then scraping the paint off the relief with a scalpel, but bent into a shape that will actually fit inside the fuselage? Forget it. And it's invisible in any case.
I'll haul it out and make a fresh start. I also have to sort out the tail wheel box - I've cut away fuselage that should just have been thinned to accept the resin part.
Actually that's not true: I've cut away fuselage that should have been left entirely alone as using the resin parts adds for the tailwheel box adds absolutely nothing to the finished article. Another lesson.

I was going to cut the tailwheel box out and line it with plastic card, but couldn't figure out how to mount the original tailwheel strut (becasue the socket would have gone). So for now I've left it.I'd put the whole thing away out of sheer frustration: the PE instrument panel looks fabulous, and you can achieve a great sense of depth by painting it black and then scraping the paint off the relief with a scalpel, but bent into a shape that will actually fit inside the fuselage? don't put it off too long will you
I want to see it finished even if it goes outside the GB timescale because all these personal builds help build a more comprehensive idea of each kit's pitfalls
This was a model I put to one side back in 1989
Looks like I could actually make progress back then (ish)
Buggered if I can remember what made me ditch it in the drawer in my garage workbench
Things you do...

Just out of interest when is the end of the timescale for the build?
I definitely need to crack on with some painting.
The stated dateI definitely need to crack on with some painting.
20th March
good luck and crack on
ten days twenty minutes on my H Samuel Never-rite watch
mine is not even slightly likely to be done by then, glad I stuck to the Typhoon for laxity
