I want to get a pair of Double Defence Racing Ralphs. To make up for the weight gained by changing to the DDs from the standard Ralphs I have I was looking at going from 2.25 to 2.1.
What difference would that make to the handling, grip etc?

More volume means more comfort and the ability to lower pressures a little more which gives you increased grip but higher rolling resistance while the smaller one will allow you to increase pressures a little more which gives you less rolling resistance at the expense of grip.

It's all pretty negligible really so i'd go for the 2.25s, it will make you slightly slower by virtue of increased rotating mass but man up and accept it as resistance training.

If you have a full suss go narrow
If its a HT you will miss the compliance

I wouldnt ride my HT on anything narrower than 2.25 TBH

Thanks for the input.

I have ordered a pair in 2.25. I have also ordered some Conti Supersonic tubes to offset the added weight.

The problem with manning up is that the added rolling resistance takes the fun out of it for me. I currently do between 11 and 12 hrs a week spread over 3 sessions which is work enough wink
