Hi All,
Does anyone know of any cheap workshop space in the Letchworth area?
I fancy starting a track car or restoration project but do not have the space at home.

Thanks in advance

I have been looking for workshop space for AGES for my track car, have been posting all over the place. Have found nothing other than pretty expensive industrial units frown

Perhaps a few of us should club together and get a unit to share!

Yeah, same here.

Great idea about sharing somewhere. Only trouble is that you usually have to sign a year's lease, and some people do not want to commit to that.

Let me know if you find somwhere, and I will do the same.

With 3 of us we could probably afford a reasonable space to share? I would definitely be willing to commit for a year if It gave us a secure decent workshop to use... I need it just to keep and do light work on an MR2 race prep'd car.

I'd also be prepared to commit for at least a year.

Hi Chaps,
That sounds promising.
The first question I guess is 'what are your budgets?'

My budget is flexible depending on space available etc etc..

Willing to pay good money for the right solution.

Is Hatfield too far away from you guys? I am currently persuing a lead to possibly purchase a good value workshop which could do with a bit of work..

Chaps

I am currently looking for a suitable unit for my business interests and I would quite happily look for something with the extra space needed to include a decent sized workshop area for you folks - it would give me somewhere to work on my car as well.

It could also tie in nicely with future potential projects of mine and I would take on the lease etc so you don't have that hassle.

What size of area are you looking for? what sort of budget?

Hi Guys,
Hatfield is good for me. I live in Letchworth, so only 20 minutes away. I am also quite handy at DIY, so could help out there too.

Livingthedream, that is exactly what I was doing yesterday, looking to move my business into a bigger building. I will struggle to justify the costs to my business partners though........

In terms of space, ideally I would like to install a two post lift and have 3 feet of space either side for tools, compressor, etc.

I am totally flexible to anyones ideas. All I know for my needs is:

1. Budget is totally flexible for the right solution.
2. I would ideally like space for a good sized car trailer and a few feet all around it, for shelves/tools/parts.
3. I would like it to be within Herts (closer to St Albans the better)

A good sized industrial unit shared between a few people works well because we would probably end up with a good amount of space, I am open to any ideas/solutions, I am just despirate for somewhere as currently my race car is stored with a friend which is less than ideal and difficult to work on it (I Say work on it but the most I do is clean it and tinker).

Also flexible, for a barn with no electrics and just space to park up a pair of cars I wouldn't want to pay too much, but for a nice unit with space to park and work on cars with electricity I'd pay a lot more.

I also have a lot of equipment I'd be happy to share with the unit (as long as fair rules are agreed first, and safety of the unit is assured) inc. Compressor, engine crane, engine stand, air tools, Mig welder Etc.

I wouldn't mind contributing (via a daily rate for eg.) for useful garage/workshop space. I'm based in St Albans

I know of 1 or 2 industrial units in Baldock if you're interested. They are just along from our works units.

Cheers - I'll pop along and take a look.

Chaps - further to my post earlier - the one site I had in mind doesn't really look suitable on further investigation.

I'm still looking though so I'll let you know if anything comes up
