Unless I'm mistaken, the pertinent question is why?

Given that the hub and the labour to re-spoke it, is the really price bit (normally), might you not be better off buying a new, pre-built wheel assembly?

It would be worth knowing what components your wheel is made up of?

Generally anything off a sub £500 bike means just buy a new one!

Basically i just wondered as if it was a £20 job it would be cheaper than buying a new wheel, i was just after a cheapy one to see me through until i splash out a buy a much better wheelset. i only want the rear currently as i want to run 9 speeds on the back not 7, but me being a bit weird i'd like the wheels to match so i won't just buy the rear to start.
It an odd way of doing it but i am just upgrading areas of the bike at a time and to buy the new wheelset, cassette, rear derailler and shifter will cost alot if i buy it all at once.

last time i got a wheel built it was about £15 for spokes and £20 labour but that was a few years ago so probably a bit more now

Hi, if your running 7 speeds and STI shifters then it wont shift 9 speed, youll need 9 speed shifters, or friction shifters instead, cheaper to stick with what youve got !!!!
