Wish someone could have made my TD5 Discovery "alive". Probably the worst car I have ever owned, not withstanding an Austin Allegro.
The Alive tuning on my car has completely transformed it, along with the EGR removal, Samco hoses, intercooler and straight through exhaust. Have to be honest it is now a brilliant all rounder. It even handles well due to the thicker anti-roll bars and 30mm spacers. I love it. DB7 pilot said:
YES! I can confirm that classic car parts division at Mercedes have adopted a pricing policy to reflect new market valuations, or, to charge like a wounded rhino, which doesn't help as I'm also doing a nut and bolt resto on this:
Mark,Did the body shop take the body down to bare metal and if so by what method, or did you but chance get it dipped to strip off everything?

It was not dipped, but the panels that weren't replaced were taken back to bare metal. The whole front end was replaced, most of the floorpan and all the cills, inner and outer, yet when it went in there were only the tiniest ripples under the paint that gave anything away. Costs climbed beyond the original £5k quote quite quickly after the paint was stripped back.... as they do!

Were you heading into Harrogate in the Abarth yesterday afternoon ? if so I was coming the other way and got a good view of you heading towards us - looked fantastic - so fantastic in fact that I bought a Fiat 500 poster from the Antique shop we stopped at next - I used to have four classic 500's including an Abarth replica - really want another one now !Edited by _Leg_ on Sunday 22 February 18:06

Not I mate, collecting it on Sunday.I've been lent this to use for the next month or swo
Lancia Y10 GT ie - can't even remember the last time I saw one, or indeed any non-Intergrale Lancia, in the flesh. Surprisingly well equipped and whilst it looks rough it's solid underneath with everything working the way it should. Very noisy and tinny feeling, and whilst I don't usually like small cars being able to fit into any parking space makes a nice change. That said the pedals are stupidly close together, to the point I have to drive barefoot to ensure my size 10s don't hit two at once

My Dad had a Delta 1.3 (possible an 'E' or something like that) followed by a HF Turbo. The first was an embarrassing rust bucket which went on for years until it got written off, was covered in rust and I have no idea how it got through any MOT. The second was a good car and pretty quick but no integrale. However it was a much more usable car and was RHD. Eventually sold it when it was looking like big bills were going to come in. Sold it to someone who put a bigger turbo on it, saw it embedded in a roundabout a few months later.Lancia Y10 GT ie - can't even remember the last time I saw one, or indeed any non-Intergrale Lancia, in the flesh.

I like that, very nice indeed. How's the bodywork and electrics fairing up?
thank you, body is probably at 95%, few minor scratches and the bottom of the rear bumper needs minor attention.Electrically its spot on, all windows, interior lights, including the reading lights, sunroof, central locking, puddle lights....all in perfect working order. Had the headlining done last year which finished off the interior. Now i just get in and drive it......proper wafting
