Stuck the GT6 in hibernation offloaded the TR4 and bought a TR3 as a winter project. Getting some side screens made up and then making a list of ways to spend any spare dosh, first up some welding smile
Is that a TR5 in the background? TR3 will seem prehistoric after the GT6 etc, I've driven them a couple of times and can't say I enjoyed it much. Possibly insufficiently hairy chest.
Having had a tr6 as a daily driver for a few years I would certainly call the car hairy chested. Having said that i would say the driver of an early TR has a hairier chest having to deal with heavy worm and peg steering, no windows, 48 spoke wires, drum brakes and a skittish rear end especially in the wet smile

Beetles always bring out mixed receptions on here, as i found with a previous post on this topic biggrin

However it's been a great summer out and about, taking in the Cal look Drag day at Santa Pod, and a few local shows, as well as getting as many miles as possible driven. The downside of the Drag Day is now i want to go faster, but decided my 67 was a bit to clean to race, So I've bought a solid South African 66 which I'll get round to putting a 2276cc motor in and a few other bits and pieces. Have a good winter tinkering, or driving if you're braver than me.

Exactly – it's my chest that's insufficiently hairy biggrin

I've had both TR6 and GT6 as daily drivers when I was younger – I think that's the best way to enjoy them.

So how young can a car be to be counted as a classic in here?

A recent pic of my 1984 Golf GTI at a local classic car show. The paint is all original and rewards a bit of elbow grease. smile

Nice. Always wanted a Golf GTI but not got round to it yet.

Yes I have; it's a fabulous car for someone else to own! I've had highly original old cars in the past, and it's a nightmare to use them and still preserve the originality. I've done with that now: give me a restored car so that it doesn't matter if I damage it!

Is the price in the right ball-park?

I don't know what his price is; he's starting at £7,500 but that's not his reserve. I doubt if you will pick up any running Edwardian for much less than double that starting figure...
