Hi

As per title. I am about to start looking at flats. Just wanted to know how flexible the prices are. For example if a flat was 1100pcm can I go in with an offer of 950pcm.

What are your experiences?

I guess it would depend on if / how long it's been empty and what else is in the area.

My tenets gave me notice a month ago, so we re advertised it for £575 pm expecting £550, It will be empty as of tomorrow so I will be keener to negotiate.

Years ago a mate and I approached an agent on a flat for £595pcm. I went in and offered £425 (our crappy budget at that time!) and he laughed me in the face, so we walked out. Three weeks later the agent phoned and accepted! So, I guess it really depends on how long it's already been empty, and the prospects of a quick let.

I think in the current climate you wont get anywhere making an offer as there are loads of prospective tenants apparently so it is considered to be a landlords market as apposed to a tenants. Best of luck.

No blanket rules. Do your research etc. It's a Landlord's market in many areas.

It all depends on area, I own a number of rental properties on the south coast and some agents there are doing best offers by sealed bids as there is so much demand.

Just ask. I've had money off in the past and I've also been denied. Don't ask don't get.
