Long Cannon lense for 550D

My Mrs has recently taken up photogtraphy and has a Cannon 550D.

We are looking for a long lense for some track day Photography.

Can someone recomend me a suitable lense ?

knew someone would mention that, was only talking about current lenses, and thats not realy practcal to use either.

Forgot the sigma 200-500f2.8 or 300-800 too...

I recently purchased a 70-300, very pleased with it and not too pricey

Oh I forgot the new 70-300L , pricey at the moment but good for a high quality travel zoom.
