I have just seen a British horror film, entitled Abgrund des Grauens in German. Watched it on TV here in Austria.

Further research revealed it to be 'The Descent' in its native English.

I watched the dubbed German version.

I was not expecting much from it (anyone with experience of Austria TV will fully appreciate this), but it turned out to be a rather good watch.

What are your views on this film? Is it just as good in English?

I really enjoyed it.

The second one, however, is not in the same league.

It's not really a dialogue driven movie with in depth character development is it?
I think I could have followed it in German smile

True, but you still need to understand the language to get the most out of a film.

The problem with dubbing is that you cannot make out any accents - they are completely lost. I thought it was an American movie set in America, with American actresses.
