I think last nights episode was about changes, Arya starting to dominate the Hound (hound not killing the farmer for his silver but knocking him down), Pod & Tyrion, Tywin taking control of Tommen and leading him away from Cersei, Daario stepping up as champion and of course trying to work out just what Littlefinger is up to as he's changed more than once. I think that was behind the episode title of Breaker of Chains, characters breaking their chains and doing what they want to do.

I don't remember any of this Prince Dorne hotel motel stuff in the books, maybe I mind-bleached it away.
There wasn't any of that in the books. as you know his part is very small. I think they are doing it to get a connection due to the weakness of his character.

I love Brienne, she is slightly nutty.
One of her earlier parts;

It's implied in the books. I think I know why they have ramped up his character in the show but can't without spoiling stuff. I'll put it in the book thread

I thought it was referring to the dragon queen freeing slaves and firing all those broken chains to show this.

I'm starting to love Tywin Lannister. He's the ultimate cool - best lines, best outfits, bit of a man-crush I think. I really hope he comes good - he shows signs of decency when talking to/grooming Tommen and some of the expressions/reactions he gave to Joffrey's cruelty/bad behaviour give a little hope.

Tywin has been my favourite from his first screen appearances. I've only read the first book, but he's the only character I can think of that is more interesting in the series than in the books. I haven't heard of Charles Dance before this role but whoever cast him and writes his part have my utmost respect!

In the books, as far as I read it, he's unwielding and harsh. In the series they deffo gave him a "human" streak with, for example, his interaction with Arya (and his show of respect for her). The way I see it, he's the kind of guy that does realise he's been too hard on his kids, but knows it's too late to fix it and he's trying to not make the same mistake on the next generation (Arya, Tommen).

The Tywin/Arya stuff in s2 really added a lot to the picture for me, although it didn't happen in the books it was a GREAT addition IMO.

And pays his debts.

Dance is a great actor. Love him in everything he does.
If you wanna see him young in a blink and you'll miss it non-speaking role. He plays a goon in the Bond film, For Your Eyes Only.
He could play a Bond Big Boss now.
Hidden City and First Born also very good.

CD also plays The Patrician in another fantasy work, Going Postal. The Patrician makes Tywin look like an amateur schemer. biggrin

I loved the Mobs adaptations of Terry Pratchett. The Patrician is one of my favourite characters in them and I agree he was excellent in it. It's a shame Unseen Academicals seems to have stalled

If you want to see Charles Dance trying to act in a particularly hammy show watch the series of Strike Back where he is the main bad guy. It's brilliant. If Michael Bay did TV he would be proud of Strike Back (I know Michael Bay is doing TV now but Exec Producing doesn't count!)

Yeah dunno what happened at Mob about UA. But it's out of their hands now, Narrativia now own all the rights to any adaptations, and Rod Brown formally of Mob is now with them. He's a nice fella.
The next project should be good.

Arya was great as well.

How good is she actually with Needle? I know she has had training from Syrio Forel, but it isn't really alluded to how far they got with their training.
Is she ok-ish, just a notch above non-trained or would she be able to take on trained soldiers with it?
