The plug in our bath is a metal one which has got itself stuck in the hole!
It seems to have been pushed down a little too far and I cant get it out at all, no room to get down the edge with a screwdriver.

Any ideas how to get it out before I drill a hole in it?

What about putting a plunger over it with a bit of water and pulling up sharply?

water in or out?

If the water is out it might be easier to go from underneath, take the pipe off and push the plug up.

speaking from experience, a stanley blade will fit. aim to bring it up only slightly (else it'll snap) so you can get your nail under or the screwdriver. adjust the screw (i'm assuming its a pop up waste) and check it now & again.

next time you're in ikea, buy a gu10 bulb. they come with a small suction cup that is perfect for doing this.

13 amp? (Sorry, had to be done).

Metal? How about freezing it or heating the surrounding hole.

Expansion and all that.

Right, this is what you do...

Bit of water in bath, not much...

Lower your bare arse over the plug...

Clench and unclench your bum to create suction...

Repeat until plug surrenders...

Job's a good 'un, but make sure you don't swallow the plug...smile

chuck a load of ice in the bath it might make the metlal contract enough to loosen the plug a bit. perhaps persuade it with a gentle bit of tap on the side of the bit the chain attaches to. freeze spray or butane might do the trick if you have either of those.

Drill a small hole in the plug and lever it out with a small rod like a knitting needle........teacher

Half a tennis ball might do the job, a plunger would be better though.

If the bath is empty, remove bath trap and poke it from underneath with something?

ETA: Never mind, see you've already sorted it!
