Mates wedding nr Chicago June 11, the Michigan International Speedway
Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 - (just rolls off the tongue eh?) is the following weekend.

I need to fly London to Chicago, get myself a vette or a Hog (got the Hog covered), drive/ride to Michigan over the following week and then fly back from Detroit.

Which sounds easy but actually isnt. I'm struggling to find two one-way flights for less than £1100 and a car for less than £600. I havent even looked at the Race tickets yet.

Are there tour companies who specialise in this sort of thing?

There was a PHer who steamed around the West coast in a yellow Corvette that he got hold of failry cheaply IIRC. Cant remember the thread title now though.

Any help is appreciated.

ETA: NASCAR tickets for a good seat - circa US$115

If I absolutely have to, I'll take a V8 Camaro or Challenger - No Mustangs

Come on, I know theres some NASCAR fans on here.

I'll start easier then: Whats a good cheap way of flying London to Chicago?

So far Ive found Virgin Atlantic direct for circa £560 quid return. Though I have tossed the idea of coming back from Detroit. It seems in this day and age the idea of not returning frm the exact airport you landed at is so crazy, you either cant book it or the price is deliberately prohibitive.

Annoying.

hertz or avis for the vette...will be £££££££££ or sold out

sometimes they show sold out and you can upgrade on the desk , so maybe rent a big car and take a choice

the yellow vettes were hertz zhz , they have the adrenalin collection now which is a ss camaro and big mustang

Good tip, ta.

Im finding a lot of the 'stangs and Camaros are the V6 variant and they dont always specify. Arriving to find a V6 would be akin to arriving to castration.

yeah had the same worry myself , i booked the camaro from the fun collection and got the v6 , at the time they said the v8 would have been avail to me if they had one in stock

but now the SS is in its own group

v6 is over 300hp , its okay

If only the V6 vs V8 decision was down to horses alone....

I drove a NASCAR for $300.

This was east coast but they do use tracks across the country. You could look into that.
