I am trying to produce an organisation chart in Visio and would like to separate a subordinate from the main level such that it is displayed off to the side of the main spur. In this case it is the HQ Sqn but it could be, for example the Boss’s PA who report to the Boss but is not part of the normal hierarchy. So you have the Boss at the top then the PA below but off to the side and below that the next level of the hierarchy.

Sorry that does not make a lot of sense but it is the best I can do at this point!

Many thanks,

Jon

Using Visio 2007 here.

Using the Organisation Chart Shapes.

Drag either Executive or Manager shape onto the page.

Drag the Assistant shape onto the page, but drop onto the Exec/Manager. - this will put assistant below and to one side.

Drag the Position shape onto the page, again drop onto the Exec/Manager - repeat for all subordinate positions.

Does it all for you.

Ahh, I knew there would be a simple answer! I missed the assistant box, I was trying with the same subordinate.

Many thanks,

Many thanks for the assistance, and I have got that one sorted. Unfortunately I now have another query! The organisation chart is growing and I need to simplify it a little. I have several parts of the organisation that are duplicated and was wondering if there is an easy way to stack these so that you can still see that there are two sets but the space required is much less.

As ever all ideas gratefully received,

Jon
