If the banks that are in trouble now get fully nationalised dose that lead on to years of tax payer support putting off the inevitable end before they finally end up like BL, ship building, coal mining and British Steel?

no, they have a business model that can work, unlike the previously nationalised companies.

It shouldn't be; so long as we mandate debt:asset ratios that will stop "casino" banking, we should be fine.
