Hi again,
I will only be making payment via paypal safest online payment (pls visit www.paypal.co.uk) as have been burnt many times via online bank transfer/payment and for the convenience of both parties i have organized with someone to come pick it up as soon as we're through with payment.I want you to know that i would have come with cash in hand myself and do the necessary things before concluding on payment but i'm not in the country right now due to work commitments,we will complete the deal only using an authorized PayPal coz I already prearranged the whole process with them, using their escrow Safe Pay Program for merchandise .I think this is more than fair for both of us.The payment will be handled by PayPal Escrow.if you do not have a paypal account before you can get your email register with them at there site www.paypal.co.uk. So kindly get back to me with the last price and also  i want you to know that i will be responsible for the paypal transfer charge as well .Kindly get back to me with your paypal email address so that i can proceed with the payment as soon as possible..

Is it 100% scam yet? Lol.

Other side of the coin. Selling my brothers corsa, which in turn was my grans. Had done ultra low miles.

Put it in the paper for Thursday, first call arranges to see it, was a dealer I suspect.

Turns up, starts, checks mileage, pays asking price and leaves. Job done

I recall a post a while ago where a seller was physically assaulted while selling a 350z. Or am I confusing two different posts?

When i was a young lad i worked at a car sales site, the boss asked if i would like to open up on a sunday a show anyone around the cars for sale and take the details for him to contact them on the Monday.

So this very well spoken gentleman drives onto the forecourt in an old Triumph Herald making such a noise, it had lorry rope tied in a knot on the roof to hold the exhaust on, the old guy gets out of the window and said "swopped that for a bottle of brandy, not sure who had the best deal" he then asks if he can look at the Aston in the showroom a DBS V8 the most expensive car we had on the site he said "got the others but not one of these" I started the car for him and he looked at the paperwork, then he wrote out a cheque just short of the asking price and said "tell your boss to bank that if the price is acceptable and i will be back on Thursday" then took off not leaving a contact number, Monday the boss asked about the deal and thinks it is some sort of joke but banks the cheque all the same. It clears this guy then turns up in a new Bentley with a chauffeur asked to see me and shook my hand with a folded £50 note in, then tells my boss not to forget to pay me a commission. The boss then follows him to his house where in his barn he had 7 Astons and 2 Bentleys,

So never Judge
Absolutely loved that story! Thanks for sharing it! smile

I hate buying/selling cars, even though most of the time it's been not too bad. Worst experiences have been with dealers actually, (or a dealer) - especially small 2 bit smarmy wasters. Ho hum, you live and learn....

Oh come ON!

I'm sure between us we can think of some way to string this one along and along and along and get them to pay you some money up front to "prepare the car for shipping", you are not allowed to use paypal from work or via your ISP, so he'll need to send the preperation money cash, etc.

If anyone is really annoying use their phone number in a new spoof car advert... "Offers most welcome. Phone anytime with your lowest offer. Any PX considered"

See how the time wasters like it in return hehe

Thought I would update, after a tonne more silly texts, I sold the car last night to a lovely man and wife for £25 less than asking, they took it for a quick spin down the road to check it was running fine, checked the paperwork and deal was done in 5 minutes. Happy days.

This morning

"ur kar 4 sall, how mch u want"

Followed by me saying thanks for the interest but it sold last night. Reply

"cool blud, well if dey fuc up I wil giv u 200 CASH NOTES."

I've been getting a barrage of texts from idiots who offer stty part exchanges for my RX-8 where I've clearly stated no to swaps.

I've sort of given up hope of selling it now to be honest, if I'm getting no real interest at under £4k there's not much point in selling it really.

This eBay Q&A for a 535d reminds me of this thread hehe
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

I'm sure there must be people out there who just spend their days making insulting low cash offers for cars they haven't seen in the hope that some desperate seller will bite...

Yes, but ironically he did turn down one of these offers for 7500. The car only sold for 7300.

and his listing was crap!

Well we don't have £1 notes, so maybe he meant 200 £5 notes? £20 notes??

You should have asked... smile

This thread has kept me entertained for an evening. I'm not a fan of buying and selling cars. Sold my first car which my Dad let me have when he bought a new car for £225 to a mate at the time. Since it didn't need anything fixing for the year I had it I was happy plus it didn't have an MOT or tax. He then part ex'd it for an Astra 2.2 then came back chuffed that they'd given him £750 for it. The car in question had done 140k, wasn't mint and he paid near £3k for it. Week later something terminal went wrong with it.

I sold my Polo within 24 hours of sticking a sign in it's window. Some local chav saw it and I took him for a test drive since he wasn't insured. He asked questions like "what's it like with 5 up?". I just said I should be fine. He haggled a little bit and even had a printout of Parkers to tell me what the car worth. I pointed out that his price was for an average one with 80k whereas mine had 50k and just been serviced including timing belt. I dropped £100 because I had my vRS waiting to go on the road. A week later I saw it with tinted windows, halfrauds wheels and it had been lowered. It looked awful. 2 weeks later it was parked up with the towing eye sticking out the front and was there for a good month. Think I sold that at the right time!

My vRS was really easy. Saw it advertised for £6400 locally which was cheap, went to see it, test drove it, asked the usual questions and asked about the asking price. He was selling for that because that's how much the bank loan was to pay off and he'd bought a Land Rover to town a trailer as vRS's can't tow legally. Did a HPI and all came back clear so I bought the car.

I'm dreading coming to sell it though after seeing so many falling into the hands of chavs. I'm tempted to just part ex it for something when I do come to sell it. May not get as good a deal as selling private but can't be arsed to deal with the morons.

Yep, not surprised, ste advert and car - the matt black doesn't look good on a diesel, especially not on the SE spec!

Not mentioning the mileage and the general tone of the ad marks him as one to avoid. The car looks shocking in that wrap too.

I also noticed that all the replies he printed were about price. yet you can be sure far more people have contacted him about the mileage. i'd be willing to bet its a 180k+.
