After owning a Humax PVRs for a few years the Humax HDR-FOX T2 seems the best choice.
So recommendation anyone? Also does anyone know if it has a variable level digital output as i'd like to run it through my DAC and the volume is essential with the ridiculous difference between programs and particularly advert.

Got one at home but never used the volume control - will test later and report back!

Fantastic piece of kit though - very stable and great user interface.

Much appreciated. Is the sound on HD better too?

I have a Humax HDR-FOX T2 and it's excellent. I previously had a 9300T and bought my father a 9200T some years ago. All have been excellent but they have got better as time has gone on. To answer the OPs original question - I don't believe it has a variable level digital output; at least not according to the manual and from a quick serach through the menu.

I have to wait until 20th April for Freeview HD broadcasts so can't answer your question regarding sound quality.

Tested it tonight and the digital level IS variable. TBH, the difference between SD and HD is very minimal on my system possibly as my amp (Onkyo TXNR1008) has a very good scaler built in. No audible difference in sound either.

I just got one. It supplements the 2 x 9200T's and a 9150T. I'd say it operates very nicely. However the Play/ff/rew buttons are too small and located off to one side which makes them awkward to use. The Guide doesn't grey out the Stations that are unavailable when both tuners are in use, (It does it on the LIST though). You also cannot move on a day on the GUIDE which is a nuisence. It also keeps it's Files in Folders which is handy for Series. Single programs are kept on the root level. I did get a DigitalStream HD recorder which was cheaper and generally I'd say the Digitalstream is as good apart from the lack of PIP on the GUIDE. The units appear to identical control wise but Digitalstream don't update over the air yet. SWMBO didn't like the Digitalstream graphics though and the idea is that my 500GB 9200T moves into My Music Room once the Programs list has built up on the FOX-HDRT2 and SWMBO gets the HD recorder. That May change though smile

Another question, can you record 2 channels whilst watching a 3rd, (dependant on MUX), as you can on the 9200?
Nothing on all week, then 3 things on at once occurs surprisingly often!

Yep, The "Greying out" of the channels you can't watch is on the "List" function rather than the "Guide" though.

Try the Skip button. That's how it works on my FOXSAT-HDR, but it's not marked on the screen anywhere.

All installed, HD doesn't start till next week but SD looks strangely better.
The digital output isn't variable, unless i haven't found the option for it?

Big problem though, BBC1,2,3 don't recieve a decent signal, however on 801,2 etc they are fine.
I've retuned twice, selected both regions and problem is still there!

Help!!!

Did a full factory reset and all is well.
Very odd as it was brand new out the box.

Yep there is |<< and >>| skip 30 seconds. Also skip 1 day in the guide, much better than the multiple key presses to skip a day on the 9200.
Very impressed so far, menus are slightly different but picture is great, only disappointment is the lack of variable digital output and slow deletes. Love the 'green' button that pops up in trailers, never knew there was second series of Spaced! Also like the 'suggest' when you hit record it picks something else you may like, now if that had some ai programming...

Magic I'll try that tonight.

Hmmm - just realised why I may have given you some duff information. Although I am running the digi coax into my AVR, I am also running the HDMI cable and having a brain fade moment, forgot that the audio would have been running through that instead.... Sorry!

In my defence, it replaced a PVR that had a digi coax but only 2 channel HDMI so it was setup to use the coax connector on that one.

Oops

Freeview HD went live here today.
Nowt worth watching, allowed SWMBO to watch Emmerdale Farm though, have to admit picture is pretty darn good.
Very impressed with the box so far SD seems vastly better than the old 9200. Menus very slick. Respond if anything to quick as deleted stuff i didn't mean to.

Things still needed... 'undelete' or a 'trash can' so you can bring back accidental deletions and a method of backing up your recording schedule, very tedious, 3 retunes in last week, (hopefully done for a while).

And more than BBC iPlayer, what about ITV, C4 and 5 players? Let alone You Tube. Oh and need FLAC support for audio and HD video formats for network.
