I stopped off at Leisure Lakes in Daventry on my way back from the Sunday Service and bought a pedal wrench and some Muc Off bike cleaner.

Dropped the folder off at the LBS to get the gears indexed and the BB replaced. Turned out to be an expensive trip.

These saddles seem really popular, so I thought I'd give it a go. Its just a black Charge Spoon.

I've really been struggling with saddles. Spent a lot of money on a Specialized and I don't really like, so that will probably be sold.

I usedd the Charge on my folder this morning and it is brilliant. The position needs a bit of tweaking, but other than that, I'm really happy with it smile Its also much better than the saddle that the folder came with. Going to swap the charge onto my CX bike and see if it works with a different bike. So pleased to have finally found a saddle that works!

Weight wasn't too bad either at 255g, which is 100g less than the saddle that came off the folder.

May try the Knife on the road bike as that is meant to be a bit lighter than the Spoon.

1x10 conversation with Hope 32t narrow wide chainring and 40t cassette extender smile Still got a little messing about to do but it shifts fine with no changes which surprised me.

O/T but do you have Mountain King on the front as well? Any opinions on them?

Fizik R3... £50 from planet x! They're a couple of seasons old, and I have massive feet (sz 48). Not worn them yet in anger, but tried on and worn around the house and they're stiff as anything (compared to the Shimano R80 that I've had for 4yrs!)

How do they size up compared to your regular shoes?

48 seems to be size 12.5 or 13, does this cross over correctly?

Against my Shimano road cycling shoes, I'm a 48 in them also - so against other road shoes, it seems about the same. However, against my normal every day shoe, I'm typically an 11 / 11.5, so they do come up slightly different against that.

Just bought this for £35, which is a bargain. Used the Evans 10% off code. Not a desirable colour, but I wanted a jersey that had a front pocket, as its really useful for commuting. I need somewhere convenient to store my building pass and season ticket and front pockets are excellent for that smile

I've recently taken up road cycling in order to train for the London Triathlon.
Bought a secondhand bike off a mate a couple of months ago and been picking up various little bits.

Anyway, only been out on it 3 times, the 3rd time was yesterday.
In those 3 rides I've have had 5 punctures!!

Yesterday I opened the shed to find a flat rear tyre, so used my spare innertube instead of trying to patch up another hole... but then realised I had no more puncture patches left!
Hoped I'd be ok, but 30 mins later, that one deflated too!

Due to numerous combinations of possible causes for the various punctures, from nearly bald rear tyre, chances of debris inside the tyre or on the rimtape, I decided to start a-fresh; so today I stocked up on:

3 innertubes
Pair of Conti Gatorskin tyres
new rim tape
new puncture repair patches
2 new co2 capsules

I'll be pissed off if I get any more punctures now!

Seriously, don't bother with patches. They are pain. Just bulk buy inner tubes from one of the online suppliers. You can also bulk buy the C02 cannisters online too. Can't remember where I got mine from but they were roughly half the price of Evans etc etc.

Best of luck with the London Tri. I've done it three times and its been fun, but very busy. Cycle is fairly easy, but the swim is where it gets challenging. If you have never swum in a pack before, get your self entered into an open water race for some practice. I saw someone have a real panic attack at the start one year. Had to be plucked out of a mass of 300+ swimmers. Fairly play to the safety cover for managing it.

Gateorksins will help though.

Patches are only a pain if you cannot do the job properly I think.

I've never had issue patching tyres and I do repair all my tubes within reason, much cheaper than £3 a throw, and if done correctly a patched tyre should be as good as new.

Ditto. Much quicker too in many circumstances.

I've been a fan of the Charge Spoon since buying one in 2007/2008, and bought a Charge Knife for my road bike when I bought that in 2008. I really rate it, I've done thousands and thousands of miles on it, (7500 recorded on Strava, but I only started using that in late 2012)

It's starting to get a bit worn looking, but is still intact, and more importantly, still comfy.

Blackspire snagged tooth narrow wide 34T chain ring for my XC bike.

Swapped my bike park fun hard tail to 34T 1x10 on an 11-36T cassette about 4 months ago, love it (after initial noisy grind in) and 1st ride on the Xc bike yesterday and I didn't use the little ring once running 38T front 11-34 cassette so thought pointless keeping the front mech, seeing as I managed fine with a low of 38T(chain ring) and 34T cassette I went 34T chain ring and staying 34T cassette, actually more worried that it'll be the high gear I miss more than low.

Not so much "bike bits" but got myself a progressional bike fitting. Excellent service which lasted hours and included a range of high-tech equipment to monitor position and riding and hundreds of adjustments made to bike. Feels great now. Looking forward to giving it a proper test this weekend.

The feckers have put them back up to £99.99 (R3 SLs) so I will have to check back in a week or something. Too many hits push the prices up I suspect...

Planet X are feckers for doing that. They do it with bikes as well. They had their new nanolight on the site for £1k and then they upped the price to £1299. Also the bike specs and pricing is constantly changing.

Are you aware of the Planet X discount code?

Any ideas where I should stick it wink

I'm starting with seat post, chain ring blots, bottle cage bolts and pedals.
