what format is the music on your ipad in? I guess the ipad is wirelessly connected to the router and the router is cabled into the S5?
Need more information really.
I have the sonos bridge plugged into the router and speaker is set up over wifi with the iPad. It all works as should just I can't play the music sync'd on my iPad from my iTunes library on my PC. Need more information really.

I'm not home at the moment but could I plug the iPad directly into the speaker when I want to play stuff stored on it?
You can plug your iPad directly into your S5... You will need to ensure the 'line input' is set correctly from either the Sonos controller, the Sonos desk top controller, or the settings on the iPad Sonos controller. However, your music is, presumably, all stored on your PC or a separate hard drive? Sonos will play this wirelessly but it will not pick up music stored on an iPad unless it's plugged into the system.
Are you new to Sonos? I've had the system for a while now and am very pleased with it. I cancelled my Napster sub (hopeless) and now use Spotify most of the time through Sonos.

Yeah new to it. Don't know why but I had assumed it would play from the iPad. Not a big deal though as happy with spotify too. Will just have to have my laptop switched on to access my iTunes stuff or copy all onto a NAS.However, your music is, presumably, all stored on your PC or a separate hard drive? Do you use an iPod or iPhone? In which case it might be worth buying the Sonos docking station, this can live anywhere within the Sonos range and play the music wirelessly to your S5. I assume there's a cable that would allow your iPad to connect to this dock too, which could partially solve your issue.

Don't have an iPhone but there must be a away to link the pad to a dock. Going to look into that tonight.Thanks.

You wont be able to access your music on the ipad unless, as previously mentioned you hook up to the S5 with a 3.5mm stereo cable. Bit of a faff though. As said before, your music will be on your PC? Thanks.

iPad'd don't fit into the dock unfortunately ... only as described above will the iPad work as a 'source' ... i.e. as a 'line-in' source with a 3.5 jack into the S5. Thanks.

Sonos announced yesterday that you can do this, but you'll need to buy an AirPlay Express device as a line in to the S5.

I saw that.....
My PC in the study is connected to a ZonePlayer and the ZP, obviously, to the Sonos network.... It means that I can already play iTunes (via the 'Remote' app) through the house. I rarely use this functionality as all of my MP3's can be accessed by Sonos without the need to use iTunes to do it.
I'm not entirely sure what Airplay does - I've assumed the ability to play iTunes remotely. In which case, I'm already doing it.
I accept I may have missed some whizzy purpose to this!

In the case of what the OP is trying to do, it'll work a treat (streaming from an iPad without having a NAS and not having to turn on a PC). For the majority of Sonos users who have a NAS with all the music on it, I suspect the take up will be lower. It's an interesting thing for Sonos to do. I guess where it may help is people who have some Apple stuff and decide to get into the full multi-room that Sonos offers without having to add a NAS etc so the cost of entry is lower. As I understand it, Sonos is still the only way to multi-room different tracks on Airplay as well (though I may be wrong). Sonos seem to be giving people more options for connectivity rather than forcing a NAS (the iPod dock for example) but that's not to say I agree with this - I don't see where the strategy is going longer term.
Good to see an official Android app as well though, they were daft not to do that ages ago though.
