Agree with you both. The whole situation is ridiculous.

Wondering if I should start a "The £50k 997.2 Turbo?" thread ? smile

Beginning to think maybe a PDK turbo could be interesting! All things happen for a reason, as they say!

Whether it's part of the general Porsche bubble, prices seem to be going up, not down.

I looked at prices of a Turbo S a number of months after we got one and they were £10k more!! That surely helped the whole 997T market.

Yes a good low miles gen 1 with PCM3 and ceramics is still £55k. Good value too IMO. I've also seen 50,000 miles gen 2 PDK cars for similar money.

Prices of gen 1's have gone up, I suppose all Porsche have recently. Haven't seen a gen 2 less than late £50's good examples mid £60's.

Assuming the 50k one wasn't shagged it would have been a nice buy.

It has to be as a direct result of the rise of the GT and air cooled cars. A mezger 6/7 turbo is probably seen as a great alternative?

Depends to me the gen 1 looks dated but maybe because I've had a gen 1, I find the gen 2 a much fresher look.imo Also pdk changed the game if you are going for auto.

I am thinking about a gen 2 manual turbo...

Am I missing a trick by not looking at Pdk?

Car will be a weekend toy, with possible forays into Europe at least once a year.
Has anybody had/driven both?
What are your thoughts guys?

Both good but PDK defines the gen 2 car. I'd still take the manual though as its a sweet box.

PDK was the main development of the gen 2, drive one and see how you feel. Good arguments both way.

Thanks but not the spec for me and DH motors not a dealership I would entertain.

I have spent time in both and there really was not enough of a difference for me to swap. Gen 2 definitely more composed and on full throttle a bit more playful but in my opinion all artificial with ptv etc etc. If you want to have fun in a gen 1 switch offPSM and just lift of mid corner. In the end even with the gen 1 with PSM switched off power still goes to axle which needs it and the car gathers itself up but can be a real handful for the inexperienced driver who try's to overcompensate too much. For me the PDK is just another auto and takes away from the experience. Having said that the gen 2 car flows with the road much better as the manual carat ten tenths can be a frustrating stop start drive. Trick with gen 1 is to drive at eight tenths and always be in a gear higher than you think you need to be.

Really? I struggle to tell the difference bar the wheels, and wider exhausts if I am closer

Maybe, I find gen 1's with the rear lights in all red make it a bit more up to date looking.imo

DH are local to me but have never used them. However as a future potential buyer of the kind of 997 stock they keep I'd be interested as to why you would not entertain them? PM if you prefer.

forgot the red rear lights, think that was an option on gen 1 though? Haven't made my mind up whether I prefer the all red look, like both wheel styles (not RS spyders) but gen 2 fatter exhaust looks nicer.

So are you seeling an gen 1 and looking to buy a gen 2?

Yes it was option on gen 1 only. On gen 2 the clear cluster was an option.

Not 100% sure what is next, no sports car at moweeping
