Hi

Did a search for this but didn't find much.

A friend and I are thinking about cycling John O'Groats to Lands End at some point next spring, which shall give us plenty of time to prepare.

There are lots of good websites to help with the planning of it, however, I wondered if anyone on here had done it?

We were thinking of aiming for about 12 days this averages out at around 70 miles a day which sounds feesable (we are both around 25).

Want a team of at least 4 people to make it safe and share the burden.

So good idea or just stupid...?

There's quite a few threads on it if you use the search term LEJOG. I've not done it but there a few on here that have.

For more information than you could ever want to know, the CTC website has a sub forum just for LEJOG. Grow a beard if you're going to venture in there though. wink

Haha! What an idiot? Is she attractive though? She sounds like rather perfect bait...

I have done it - PM me if you like and I can discuss with you.

We did 100+ miles a day and it is not too bad.

William Weir co-ordinates the entries for the 4d20h and the 7 day audax versions, as well as the 20 day version. He has route sheets, and if you contact him, I suspect he´ll share. It may be worth putting together a bunch of options in case you get bored doing it over a longer period.

You'll get more info searching for Lands End to John O'Groats, or LEJOG, but why so many people do it uphill is beyond me... rolleyes

I did it last July, "downhill".

Most people do it LE - JoG due to the tailwind but I went south so I could "recover" in Newquay after.

Pm me if you want.

done it both ways, JOG to LE on a tandem.

14 days, including 1 rest day

remember that the prevailing wind is from the SW and sometimes that can make it harder that way
