this.

I've known it for several years and it's never less than immaculate, it's no garage queen either it gets properly exercised too.

Come on, this is not really a GT in the same sense as the LHD ones, is it... Good price, though...

IIRC it was not as full on as the LHD GT version that the Germans got, but nevertheless, still a nice end of run 3.0 stop-gap until the 3.2 came along. Although it is worth saying that it is more performance orientated than the GT II (Imola Individual), but still Inferior to the M3 Evo 3.2 model that replaced it IMHO.

It has not got the dual oil pump pick-up. UK GTs were also missing the cams and associated ECU re-programming.

I said "keen price" as LHD GTs sell for double that...

If I remember correctly this was dyno'd at Dastek in Fife and was putting out 296bhp.

As Fluff says this car is in fine fettle and worth the money.

I don't see how this is inferior to the 3.2. As many if not the majority of 3.2 seldom made their 321bhp figure and the GT does not have the vanos worry of the 3.2 then I believe, and this is only my opinion, that these are a far better prospect that the 3.2.

I believe that the RHD GT did include the hotter cams vs.standard, the GT rear spoiler and extending front lip, half suede/green leather vader seats, lighter aluminium doors (some 1996 evos had these too) and delimited if the driver had a race lisence. However, performance was slightly down vs. the LHD cousin as the RHD vesion kept the standard manifolds, whilst the LHD version got a freer flowing set to liberate some more ponies. The RHD version was also deprived of some interior carbon fibre bits of trim, but can easily be retrofitted IIRC.

Regardless, the M3 GT 3.0 is still slower than the M3 EVO 3.2, although the exact figure might not be 25 bhp down!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiGDoTqAxFQ

Thats a LHD GT 3.0 camera car, so the RHD ones we have here will be a tad slower still!

The vanos issue is overhyped, can be fixed for <£500 these days from Dr. Vanos and along with the extra 200cc makes the car pull a bit harder throughout the rev range vs. the single vanos on the 3.0. Also the evo front brakes are superior to the 3.0, with many 3.0 owners swapping over their front hubs to allow this setup to be used. Yes, the 6 speed box is more fragile but allowed for a better MPG than my current E46 330Ci. The suspension setup on the 3.2 has been improved too vs. the 3.0. Nicer dual climate control too, not that its a deal breaker!

Cheburator mk2 is correct - this is a GT Individual, not a GT Coupe. Cheers for the price feedback BTW.

As for clabcon and the 3l vs 3.2l that's entirely down to personal preference / rumour mill. As Gary mentions, the car RR'd at 292.4bhp (you can really feel the 0.4bhp BTW ;-) ) before the Dave.F and Miltek so it is comparable in practical terms to the 3.2l whether it lives in an E36 or E46 shell; albeit going at 10/10 with a competent pilot the 3.0l will eventually lose out to the later cars.

Also in answer to clabcon, the GT Individual came with the standard 286bhp engine (as indicated by the BF92 model designation) so no engine goodies. The alumnium doors are one of the greatest E36 myths. A decent number of GT coupes had them, but not all. A handful of GT individuals had them, but not all. A handful of E36 M3 Evos had them but certainly not all. Seems to be down to chance / who was on the production line that day...

GT Individuals came with the Class II splitter and rear spoiler, front strut brace, polished, forged wheels, BRG paint, mexico green and amaretto interior and the birds eye maple graphite trim (vs the GT Coupe's carbon fibre trim). Yes you can retrofit the carbon trim, but not exactly the same pattern as BMWs and if you go for the good stuff then you can be well into four figures to buy the bits.

All this info and plenty besides is on the site I run at http://www.m3gtregister.com/

Cheers for the interest, fingers crossed a buyer pops up.

I don't think its a case of GTs being inferior to the 3.2 EVOs; the GT engine was smaller and only had variable timing on the inlet valves; consequently it made less power. EVOs don't make 321bhp because they aren't meant to; the factory didn't claim 321bhp for the S50B32 they claimed 321PS; the 321bhp figure in the owners handbook came about because of some incompetent numpty not knowing the difference when the UK handbook was published.

I think good ones are able to make rated power.

Original 3.0...... 286PS......282HP
3.0GT............. 295PS......291HP
3.2EVO............ 321PS......317HP

A good Evo 3.2 will make very near the quoted power so long as it's been properly maintained. They are very sensitive to valve clearances being set correctly from my experience, mine made 294bhp at Evolve,it was then suggested I go away and look at the valve clearances,7 were found to be out of tolerance and were duly corrected with new shims from BMW,took it back too Evolve 2 weeks later and it made 316bhp and felt much crisper at the top end.

From memory, the UK 3.0 GT had the standard engine while the Continental model had different cams and a few other bits.

Noooo, I hope not.

UK car in good condition is usually a bit more than an EVO, so £6-8k, LHD spec, €15-20,000

I know where there is a LHD UK registered one for sale at £18k.

Can you point me in the direction of the lhd one?

Surely as there are only 30 or so homologation specials left they've gotta be £15k plus?
