This is meant to be an RC mecca, yet why is it soo hard to find any details on what it costs to turn up and drive round a track?
All I can find is yearly membership details and lot of clips of pro indoor races.
I know the MK club use it as their own track but how does a normal person get to drive their own car around it. Personally I want to run my 1/10 nitro touring car and 1/8 nitro buggy on the outside tracks.
The website has been the same for the last year and a bit with no prices and the same pictures. I cant even find many reviews or accounts of visits on the forums around the net. Has it just resorted to an elite club race track?

I race there regularly, you can use the tracks by just turning up when there's no racing taking place and paying a fee, I think it's £10 for the day.
The outdoor track would be fine for your 1/10 TC but there isn't really a track suitable for 1/8 off road.

You can use any of the tracks for a £10 fee, this is for a morning or afternoon session. We are currently enlarging our outdoor nitro on road track, and you can run your nitro buggies on our clay outdoor track.

Cheers, I have my own selection of cars, buggies etc but I have heard people can hire cars to use on the tracks. How much would it cost a friend to come and hire a car to use on say the indoor electric track?

Hi, just £10, £25 if you need a driving course lesson from one of our resident instructors.
We have touring cars, short course trucks and miniZ cars. Hopefully we are doing a PH meet up!

Cool so the tenner includes a choice of cars to use? That is pretty good.

If you try and go when Milton Keynes www.mkrctc.org.uk are racing you'll get a good idea of the best cars to use.

Personally i would go for the Tamiya Mini's as a beginners car. The speed of touring cars is too high for a beginner and race cars are quite unlike the hire cars. Without being disrespectful to MA a local club will also offer you assistance without charging £25 per hour for the priviledge.

Dave Treacy is the guy to talk to at MKRCTC or they have a help section on their forum.

another local club is Leighton Buzzard. A great crowd and always happy to help beginners stay on track.

That's right, both MK and Leighton Buzzard are excellent clubs, however MA, is a permanent venue, we hire the cars and all equipment, and our instructors are skilled experienced racers. An hours instruction from a current RC champion, the hire of our cars and the use of a world class facility that you can access all the time.

These are very different options, it's good that people have choices, us at MA are working hard and are set up to deal with new people to the sport.

Wherever you race or practice, enjoy!!

Motoarena how have you not been sin binned for your user name? Mods jumped on me within an hour of signing in under my previous user name! (race instructor)

I race there when I can and it's a fantastic venue. Getting taught by a professional is always better :-)

Leighton is a good club too with an on site shop

I used to race myself, but I was more interested in the full price list of the facilities so that I dont get any surprises when I get there (possibly with friends who will want to have a go too).
I just thought that kind of info would be easy to put on the website. How about the cost of the F1 simulator?

Hi, Practice session is £10, with our cars and tuition £20, Simulator from £10, on site cafe' and shop.
Entrance and Parking is free, we are updating our price list onto the web, we will also be offering 1HR multi sessions and 2 HR experiences. We are also starting our new membership, £285 a year for unrestricted club and practice, so this is all you pay, nothing more, or a £30 per month version.
No surprises! You pay for what you want.

I believe there is a really strong 1/8th buggy club at silverstone, but havent raced there myself. www.silverstonercmcc.co.uk I think they also planned to use MA for evening racing but can't be sure.

Moto. I appreciate that you offer arrive and drive, and have world class drivers etc.. but... Ultimately you are a business. You are there for the benefit of your shareholders. Clubs are there for the benefit of members, and generally better value for money and have a less formal approach.

Be nice to know who you are though. I see your user name uses Moto Arena as both your log in and actual name. As you are promoting a business on here more openness would be appreciated.

This is a thread that has been played out ad nauseum in the rc forums, nothing has changed. Your simulator floor is fantastic, the slot car track superb. The Mini z track induced me to invest in a Grand Prix 50 for my local club so there are massive positives. The Indoor rc track is better than most clubs but outside is very poor.

IIRC I also hold the slowest ever lap in the rally simulator.

Simond,
Sure we are a business, but behind it is a passion to make RC respected by full scale, as well as general public.
If we can make RC a bigger part of the leisure cycle, then all clubs will prosper.
We actually partner with MK Touring car Club and the Silverstone Buggy Club who use us as a venue for their larger club meets and club nights, currently the Tuesday Night club that they run is world class, and the sponsored MK Touring Car meets are very popular.
We are here to popularise the sport and act as a National Centre of Excellence, hence the Silverstone link.
