Which TV & home cinema set up ?
Discussion
Budget around 5k but flexible to include 5.1 surround speakers, min. 50in plasma, preferably a 55-60inch, plus a blu ray player and amp for connecting everything to.
It won't be used much for music, but for Virgin media TV and the odd movie and game console.
Set up will be open plan in the new basement, not in a dedicated room.
I am currently being led down the new Panasonic 3D 50-55 inch route with speakercraft speakers mounted into the false wall around the TV and x2 rear ceiling mounted ones. TV will be flush to false wall on a bracket with ability to pull out and turn to as near to 90 degs as possible.

Do you want in wall speakers?
If not then physical cabinet speakers will sound and perform a lot better than the ones you will be getting in that budget.
Have a look at Monitor Audio, PMC and Artcoustic as a number of solutions. In Walls and In Ceilings sound good, but you have to spend quite a lot to get matching performance as you would from cabinet speakers.
Panasonic - TV - Good
Onkyo, Denon, Pioneer - Amp - Good
