the short throw is great, it's a short shift lol
I would stick to the normal one, you sat in the Spyder and had a go with it, it's about perfect.

Hope this helps............ Well I have a C2S on its stock shifter and it is a long throw for sure. I preferre a rifle bolt / precision shifter and again not so short that you can hardly tell its moved. So as long as the GT3 shifter shorterns the throw compared to a stock C2S a little I think I shall go for that, as long as it definetely shorterns the throw?

I'd have thought its gotta be shorter as there is no official short shift kit for the GT3, just the Carrera and Turbo, which would lead one to assume the GT3 already is a shorter shift, but maybe not uite as short as the short shift kit. Be good to hear from someone with a 997 who has put the GT3 shifter in, if anyone has of course? Or of course has anyone owned both a 997 Carrera and a 997 GT3, was there any noticable between the shifter and if so what?

However, I can only really comment on my experience with the 997 short shift (997 424 983 00) and the 2010 997.2 GT3 shift (997 424 010 91). The 997 short shift is shorter than the GT3 version but by how much, does it matter?? It depends on what you are trying to achieve. Both are quality bits of kit and make the gear lever feel rock solid. All in all I prefer the GT3 shifter, buts thats just my opinion.

Well i fitted my short shift to the 996 4S last night.
Simple job, 1.5hrs or so. 1 x skinned knuckle and a few pounds in the swear jar.
Loads of smiles on the result however. It has gone from a relatively sloppy and lengthy throw to a bolt action-esque short throw with no wobble to the lever at all.
I have the gear knob at it's lowest point on the lever itself but for those who would prefer a marginally longer lever this is fully adjustable up the length of the lever.
I went with the Eurocup short shift from Porscheshop. Good solid piece of kit for £95. One note though, it never arrived with instructions which to someone who had never fitted one would be an issue. Thankfully I had previously fitted the B&M version to my brother's 996 C4 and the procedure was identical.
Thoroughly recommend the fitting of the short shift kit. It really does make such a difference.

So!!!
Ive just discovered that my 997 comes with the Short shift standard from the factory!
It was part of the original equipment on the Sport Classic.
So I have a brand new Porsche short shift kit here part no 99742498300 that I dont need.
I will take £195 delivered to your door if someone would like to save some money off the list which is circa £450.

The OEM SSK is approx £235 +VAT from any OPC and some will give even more discount. The GT3 Gen2 shifter is approx £230 +VAT from any OPC! They are not even £450 when fitted by the OPC. £195 delivered is an OK price, though at just a few quid more most would rather buy new with a 2yr warranty.

My mistake and sorry for repeating something I read here on pricing.
OK, so its still brand new, never fitted and its still cheaper than a new one and no vat so
perhaps of use to someone here.

Hi there Well mine is fitted now. I went with the 997.2 GT3 shifter, which has the metal bushings. I don't think the throw is any shorter than the stock shifter to be honest, though its does fear more precise and well mechanical. So certainly an improvement.

Why do you have to buy a part to make the gear change better on a 90K car  My Turbo has it fitted and I wouldn't have the standard gear change, mind you we are not far off not being able to buy a 911 manual

Hi there Loving this gen2 GT3 shifter, such a precise shift with a much nicer feel compared to stock, though I don't feel the throw is any shorter. Is there a market for stock 997 shifters, as I've got one going spare now.
